Petrification is often the product of instantaneous electric transmutation (see crustaceans that live in conductive shallow beds of saltwater encased in stones), and it yields minerals and shapes entirely different from crystallized basalt at the scales seen in geology. Also many other geological formations confirm the role electricity and supersonic winds have played in the forming of things like canyon walls fused into shock-wave patterns.
The idea of Giant petrified tree-stumps being pushed is a notion of pure fantasy, when you've seen some of these formation in person, the physical mechanics of biology at that scale defy all available evidence, and I believe in giants and the vastly different mega fauna and flora of the antediluvian world. Just because we might want to believe in something, doesn't mean the evidence supports it.
