Seems to me that since Trump "volunteered" to handle the riots the Dems in Minnesota and elsewhere have all the more reason to avoid an actual confrontation with rioters. Confrontations with the NG or Military can easily go very, very ugly. If Trump assumes direct control he gets the blame for any death, destruction, etc. for going after the "black protestors" as leftist media calls them. Trump might need to, but if he does he better make sure that the right people are in command at each level so no one is "over zealous" in dealing with the situation on his watch.

Trump's got solid political gains in the black community, especially after recent Biden interviews. Someone "mishandling" this situation under Trump seems like CNN's wet dream. And CNN will get a shot of trustworthiness (undeserved) for their crew being inexplicably arrested on live TV (the conspiracy theorist in me asks if that was arranged for, same with the assault on CNN headquarters; these people believe making yourself the victim makes you stronger, more "legit").

If "rumors" of Trump's support from certain factions in the military is true, this angle might already be covered, but I pray it doesn't come to this.
