Yes, I see that happening long term. If you do your research you'll find stories of stress cracking in all types of aircraft far before their normal end of life. If I remember right Boeing had a SIGNIFICANT problem with that on one of their planes and caused the fleet to be grounded worldwide until it was fixed. That's not a "five planes in one week" problem... that's a war of attrition.
