The narrative instantly crumbles under even the slightest scrutiny, hence it being highly illegal and morally taboo to do so
The one and only reason you or any other person hasn't accepted this as a simple truth is cognitive dissonance. You don't want to fancy yourself a "holocaust denier" and work forward from that point.
