Cop was trying to clear the corner so that the police could enter the room. Schaffer's room happened to be located around a corner of a wall. That's why they stayed back, not knowing if anyone else was present in the room with a weapon. The girl wasn't as drunk, she obeyed commands pretty good, but Schaffer was two sheets to the wind and had a hard time following orders precisely as the officer wanted. When told to crawl towards the officers and not let his hands go to his hips, Schaffer's pants fell down as he was crawling and reached to his waist to pull his drawers up. Cop flipped out and blew him away.
Schaffer's nickname was "Rambo" because he was a contracted bird exterminator that traveled around the country to Walmarts to get rid of birds inside the warehouses. He used a pellet gun, and that's what he was showing a person he met at the bar. They were fooling around with the pellet rifle by Schaffer's hotel window and someone outside saw it and called the police.
