I have always announced this. I was sharing the struggles when I got kicked of from Github and that due to some of my mistakes with getting servers I got from being a server noob a very high bill ($300 the first 3 days, 800 at the end of the month).

I said I was going to have ads and use google analytics. Some didn't like it, some said "sure, free market, we're no commies".

This kind of data is what most sites gather everywhere.

I think it's quite interesting.
