Texas Governor Declares State of Disaster, Allows Feds to Act as State Peace Officers

Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a “State of Disaster” in the wake of violent George Floyd protests happening across the state. The move authorizes federal agents to act as Texas peace officers.

Governor Greg Abbott today declared a State of Disaster for all Texas counties in the midst of violent protests that endanger public safety and threaten property loss and damage,” officials with the Office of the Texas Governor said in a written statement. “Under this declaration, the Governor has the ability to designate federal agents to serve as Texas Peace Officers.”

Governor Abbott said, “Every Texan and every American has the right to protest and I encourage all Texans to exercise their First Amendment rights. However, violence against others and the destruction of property is unacceptable and counterproductive.”

“As protests have turned violent in various areas across the state, it is crucial that we maintain order, uphold public safety, and protect against property damage or loss,” the governor continued. “By authorizing additional federal agents to serve as Texas Peace Officers we will help protect people’s safety while ensuring that peaceful protesters can continue to make their voices heard.”

In the governor’s declaration, attached below, Abbott certified that the “threats and incidents of violence constitute and pose an imminent threat of disaster.”

The declaration states:

Pursuant to Section 418.017, I authorize the use of all available resources of state government and of political subdivisions that are reasonably necessary to cope with

this disaster.

Pursuant to Section 4 18.016(a), I hereby suspend all relevant provisions within Chapter 1701 of the Texas Occupations Code, as well as Title 37, Chapters 211-229 of the Texas

Administrative Code, to the extent necessary for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to allow federal law enforcement officers to perform peace officer duties in Texas. Additionally, pursuant to Section 418.016, any other regulatory statute prescribing the procedures for conduct of state business or any order or rule of a state agency that would in any way prevent, hinder, or delay necessary action in coping with this disaster shall be suspended upon written approval of the Office of the Governor.

However, to the extent that the enforcement of any state statute or administrative rule regarding contracting or procurement would impede any state agency’s emergency response that is necessary to cope with this declared disaster, I hereby suspend such statutes and rules for the duration of this declared disaster for that limited purpose.

The declaration from the governor follows his decision on Saturday to deploy 1,500 Department of Public Safety troopers to major cities across Texas and to activate the Texas National Guard to assist in keeping the peace, Breitbart Texas reported.

Rioters Breach Treasury Department In Washington, D.C.

Rioters in Washington, D.C., reportedly breached the U.S. Treasury Department and have caused some damage to the building.

Rioters “in the nation’s capital breached the complex of the Treasury Department and spray painted the area,” CNN reported. “Some of the protesters were briefly detained by the US Secret Service but eventually let go.”

“4 men pose in front of the Freedman’s Bank building, now a @USTreasury annex near WH, after it was tagged during the mainly peaceful protest today,” Fox News reporter Fin Gomez reported. “Historic site bc the bank helped newly emancipated communities in the post-Civil War era. Frederick Douglass was bank president.”

“The White House was under a brief lockdown Friday night as protests erupted across the country over the death of Minneapolis man George Floyd, bringing tensions to a boiling point and forcing one of the Twin Cities to issue a curfew while demonstrators clashed with police across the U.S.,” Fox 5 reported. “Fox News and other members of the press were immediately moved inside as the White House went into lockdown. A dozen reporters were said to be inside the West Wing. One of the protestors was later taken into custody by the Secret Service outside the White House Friday night.”

The Washington Post highlighted major developments from today in the George Floyd case:

Fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday afternoon.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner announced it has “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation” in the preliminary results of Floyd’s autopsy.

Minneapolis and St. Paul are under an overnight curfew this weekend, according to an order issued by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The curfew is in effect Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Roseville, Minn., which neighbors the Twin Cities, is also under a weekend overnight curfew.

Chauvin had previously shot one suspect, was involved in the fatal shooting of another, and received at least 17 complaints during his nearly two decades with the Minneapolis Police Department, according to police records and archived news reports. He also previously served in the military.

UN Report: 650,000 Migrants Waiting to Leave Libya for Europe

A United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) report has revealed that as many as 650,000 migrants are currently waiting in Libya, ready to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe.

The report notes that the Chinese coronavirus pandemic could have a major impact on mass migration, but the outbreak has also made such movements increasingly difficult to predict.

“The global crisis caused by the pandemic is unprecedented and it is difficult to predict its impact on human trafficking and migrant smuggling,” the report stated, adding that the severe economic consequences of prolonged lockdowns could fuel a surge of migration from various countries, Il Giornale reports.

The UN report states: “This suggests that the travel and movement restrictions caused by Covid-19 are not stopping the movement of people fleeing conflict, violence and dangerous and inhuman conditions,” and added that Libyan migrants are forced to use the services of people smugglers.

“Information from Libya, where around 650,000 migrants and refugees are currently registered, suggests that the Covid-19 public health crisis has not discouraged people from trying to reach Europe.”

IOM: Libyan authorities stop nearly 400 migrants attempting to cross to Europe

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said last week that the Libyan Coast Guard thwarted nearly 400 attempts by migrants to cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe, bringing the total number of people who’ve tried to reach Europe from Libya this month to over 1000.

On Friday, the Tunisian Coast Guard announced that it had stopped 49 migrants trying to set sail for Europe, Arab News reports.

Also last Saturday, the Tunisian Coast Guard thwarted 10 irregular migrations, during which 223 people were arrested. Despite the dangers of the Coronavirus and the tightening of security controls, Tunisia continues to record a record number of attempted Mediterranean crossings.

EU Threatens UK, Needs to Be ‘More Realistic’ in Brexit Talks or Risk No Deal

The European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, threatened that if the United Kingdom does not capitulate to “more realistic demands” then the EU will forgo further negotiations in favour of a no-deal Brexit.

The French eurocrat accused Britain of “cherry-picking” in Brexit negotiations.

“It needs to be more realistic. Because we will not accept cherry-picking. Nor will we accept an agreement which would go to the detriment and the integrity of the Single Market,” Barnier said in an interview with The Times.

“We haven’t accepted it and we will not accept cherry-picking to the detriment of the EU Single Market and the member-states because they themselves accept a number of rules, the Court of Justice, contributions to the European budget and the rules of the EU,” he claimed.

The eurocrat admitted that there has not been “an awful lot of progress” in trade negotiations with the British, but went on to say that Britain could “breathe new life” into talks by agreeing to submit tp European Union regulations on labour, security, and permitting European fishing trawlers to continue taking the majority of the fish in British territorial waters.

“Clearly we want an agreement but that cannot be an agreement at any cost. To succeed in this we have called upon the UK to show more realism,” he insisted.

Saint Paul Mayor Walks Back Claim That Everyone Arrested Was From Out Of State

Saint Paul Mayor Melvin Carter has walked back remarks he made Saturday morning in a press conference, during which he boldly claimed “every single person we arrested last night, I’m told, was from out of state.”

According to Star Tribune reporter Torey Van Oot, the mayor acknowledged Saturday evening that he shared incorrect information with the public earlier in the day: “I take full responsibility for that.”

At the time of the original remarks, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) made a similar assessment, claiming that the best estimates say about 80% of the people arrested for rioting were from out-of-state. After Carter walked back the remarks, Walz was reportedly pressed on the source for his claim, and gave the following response: “I get a lot of reports from what we’re getting on the streets. Some of this is human intel that comes to us, so we’ll see tonight.”

Rioters ‘Overrun’ Police Precinct In New York City, Another ‘Under Siege’

Violent rioters reportedly stormed a police precinct in New York City on Friday and lit law enforcement vehicles on fire.

CNN senior law enforcement analyst James Gagliano tweeted: “NYPD source informs me 88 Pct in Brooklyn just been overrun. Police Commissioner Shea has called a Level 3 mobilization. Requires all special units respond and four cars from every command in the city to location. 84 Pct under siege, as well. Also, Brooklyn North.”

Gagliano also shared a photograph of a police van that was lit on fire.

A local reporter, whose tweets were promoted by Gagliano, wrote: “Major confrontation between protesters and cops at NYPD’s 88 Pct station house in Brooklyn now. NYPD issues level 3 mobilization, summoning 4 patrol cars from commands citywide to Brooklyn to deal with the unrest.”

“Protests over the death of George Floyd erupted in Brooklyn where there have been at least 150 arrests and a dozen NYPD officers hurt,” ABC News reporter Aaron Katersky reported. “Demonstrators targeted two precincts, the 88 where a van was set on fire and the 79 were some made it inside before being arrested.”

“It’s all Bullsh*t” – 3 Leaks that Sink the Covid Narrative

In recent days a series of leaks across the globe have further shown the “official line” on coronavirus does not hold water

The science of the coronavirus is not disputed. It is well documented and openly admitted:

Most people won’t get the virus.

Most of the people who get it won’t display symptoms.

Most of the people who display symptoms will only be mildly sick.

Most of the people with severe symptoms will never be critically ill.

And most of the people who get critically ill will survive.

This is borne out by the numerous serological studies which show, again and again, that the infection fatality ratio is on par with flu.

There is no science – and increasingly little rational discussion – to justify the lockdown measures and overall sense of global panic.

Nevertheless, it’s always good to get official acknowledgement of the truth, even if it has to be leaked.

Here are three leaks showing that those in power know that the coronavirus poses no threat, and in no way justifies the lockdown that is going to destroy the livelihoods of so many.

1. “It’s all bullshit!”

On May 26th Dr Alexander Myasnikov, Russia’s head of coronavirus information, gave an interview to former-Presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak in which he apparently let slip his true feelings.

Believing the interview over, and the camera turned off, Myasnikov said:

It’s all bullshit […] It’s all exaggerated. It’s an acute respiratory disease with minimal mortality […] Why has the whole world been destroyed? That I don’t know,”

1. “covid-19 cannot be described as a generally dangerous disease”

According to an e-mail leaked to Danish newspaper Politiken, the Danish Health Authority disagree with their government’s approach to the coronavirus. They cover it in two articles here and here (For those who don’t speak Danish, thelocal.dk have covered the story too).

There’s a lot of interesting information there, not least of which is the clear implication that politicians appear to be pressing the scientific advisors to overstate the danger (they did the same thing in the UK), along with the decision of some civil servants to withhold data from the public until after the lockdown had been extended.

But by far the most important quote is from a March 15th e-mail [our emphasis]:

The Danish Health Authority continues to consider that covid-19 cannot be described as a generally dangerous disease, as it does not have either a usually serious course or a high mortality rate,”

On March 12th the Danish parliament passed an emergency law which – among many other things – decreased the power of the Danish Health Authority, demoting it from a “regulatory authority” to just an “advisory” one.

Man Dies with Whopping .55 Blood Alcohol Level, Was Reportedly Listed as a COVID Fatality

The state of Colorado reportedly added a man who died of acute alcohol poisoning to its coronavirus death toll even before the county coroner could sign his death certificate.

Police in Cortez, Colorado, found Sebastian Yellow dead in Cortez City Park on the morning of May 4, according to KCNC-TV.

Montezuma County Coroner George Deavers found that Yellow’s blood alcohol content measured at .55, so he determined that his death was caused by acute alcohol poisoning.

“It was almost double what the minimum lethal amount was in the state,” Deavers said.

Following his death, Yellow tested positive for COVID-19, so the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment categorized his death as one caused by the novel coronavirus, according to Deavers.

“I can see no reason for this,” Deavers told KCNC-TV, adding that he hadn’t even gotten to sign the death certificate before the conclusion was made.

Italian Court Sentences Foreign People-Smugglers to 20 Years for Torture

An Italian court has sentenced three foreign people-smugglers to 20 years each after they were found guilty of torturing migrants who were attempting to cross the Mediterranean.

The three men, 27-year-old Guinean Mohammed Conde, 26-year-old Egyptian Hameda Ahmed, and 24-year-old Egyptian Mahmoud Ashuia, were found guilty of belonging to a criminal organisation that engaged in human trafficking, torture, sexual violence, murder, and extortionary kidnapping.

According to testimony and evidence presented in court, the three men are said to have tortured and beaten migrants aboard boats in the Mediterranean as well as in a prison on the Libyan mainland, Italian newspaper Gazzetta del Sud reports.

The three men were arrested last year in August in the Sicilian city of Messina following a joint investigation into their people-smuggling activities by law enforcement in Messina and Palermo.

They were also linked to the landing of 59 migrants on the island of Lampedusa on the 5th and 7th of July in 2019, aboard a vessel operated by the left-wing Italian migrant transport NGO Mediterranea Saving Humans.

The NGO has had trouble in the past regarding allegations of abetting illegal migration, with its head Luca Casarini interrogated by Italian officials last year when populist League leader Matteo Salvini served as the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.

Over the last several years, Italy has arrested a number of people-smugglers and disrupted several trafficking networks.

Perhaps the most brutal case of recent years took place in 2016, involving the infamous Eritrean trafficking kingpin Medhanie Yehdego Mered.

Nicknamed “The General”, the man believed to be Mered was arrested in Sudan and extradited to Italy in June of that year. A mobile phone revealed not only acts of torture on migrants but videos and photos of dismembered bodies, murders, and even acts of cannibalism.

In 2019, however, the convicted man was released after a judge concluded that he was in fact Medhanie Tesfamariam Berhe, a much lower level people-smuggler who had been wrongly identified as Mered.

“The General” made millions of euros from not only people-smuggling but also from harvesting and selling the organs of migrants as well.

Pentagon Begins Testing Troops for COVID-19 Antibodies, Despite CDC Warnings

The military has begun testing troops for COVID-19 antibodies, and might soon ask them to "stick your arm out" to draw blood for possible use as a novel coronavirus therapy, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley said Thursday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has urged caution, warning that current antibody tests can yield false positives.

But the military is “doing some antibody testing right now, and we're expanding that," Milley said.

"We'll be doing antibody testing for critical Tier One units, such as those who go into subs or the nuclear triad or some of our quick-reaction forces. So the short answer is, yes, for the antibody testing," Milley said at a virtual town hall meeting from the Pentagon.

He added that testing within the military might contribute to the development of what the CDC calls "convalescent plasma," made from blood drawn from people who have been exposed to COVID-19 and have developed antibodies to fight the virus.

"We may want to ask you to stick your arm out and donate blood," he said. "What that can then do is help others who are severely ill. And if we can do that, then we'll be on a good path toward getting some really powerful therapeutics."

Milley was joined at the town hall by Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who said Wednesday he has been tested for COVID-19 antibodies but does not yet have the results, according to The Associated Press.

Research by the government and commercial labs on the use of antibodies or drugs as therapeutics for the virus has been inconclusive or pointed to potential side effects, such as with the use of the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine.

On April 22, a panel of the U.S. National Institutes of Health recommended against the use of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of COVID-19 patients, saying more research is needed.

In an update on antibody, or serological, testing posted Wednesday, the CDC said that the results from current coronavirus tests may still yield false positives and be too inaccurate to be used in making policy decisions on lifting restrictions aimed on preventing the spread of the virus.

"Serologic test results should not be used to make decisions about returning persons to the workplace," it said.

However, more research on antibody testing could play an important role going forward, according to the CDC. "Serologic methods have been developed and will have important public health and clinical uses to monitor and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic," it stated.

Dozens of Israel settlers storm Al-Aqsa as site reopens

Dozens of Jewish settlers today forced their way into Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque complex, shortly after the site was reopened, according to the mosque director, reports Anadolu Agency.

“Around 105 Jewish settlers have entered the compound since early morning under protection of Israeli police,” Omar Kiswani, director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, told Anadolu Agency.

He said the move “came to upset the worshippers” after the mosque was reopened for prayers.

Al-Aqsa Mosque was reopened to worshippers early Sunday after more than two months of closure due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Kiswani said Israeli forces also arrested three Palestinians – a youth and two girls – from inside the site.

No reason was provided for the arrests.

“These incursions and arrests will not alter the Arab and Islamic nature of Al-Aqsa mosque,” Kiswani said.

The Al-Aqsa complex was closed off to all worshippers late March as part of measures to stem the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the world’s third-holiest site for Muslims. Jews call the area the Temple Mount, claiming it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognised by the international community.

Colombia’s ELN Willing to Join UN’s Global Ceasefire

Three-month ceasefire meant to contain coronavirus

With high hopes for containing the coronavirus outbreak, the UN Secretary-general proposed a global ceasefire, allowing various countries and other armed forces to stop fighting each other and focus on the real threat at hand.

Colombia’s rebel National Liberation Army (ELN) has confirmed on Friday that they are willing to participate in the ceasefire if the Colombian government does. There has been no response from Colombia about this.

The ELN has been active in Colombia since 1964. The group had a truce with the government in 2016 through to early 2018, though it ultimately fell apart. A 2016 peace referendum narrowly failed, but the group seems willing to take up the matter again.

Most of the world has expressed support for the UN ceasefire, though the US and Russia have yet to formally commit to it, with Russia wanting assurances that they can defend themselves in Syria, and the US wanting to make sure it doesn’t impact any ongoing US wars.

Neighbors From All Walks of Life Hit Minneapolis Streets to Help Clean Up After Days of Unrest

Volunteers have flocked to the streets of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area to help clean up the shattered glass, graffiti, and other debris left behind in the aftermath of huge protests and widespread unrest resulting from the brutal killing of George Floyd.

Residents from across Minnesota and neighboring states flooded into neighborhoods in the Twin Cities that saw some of the most massive protests and skirmishes with police to help mop and sweep affected areas, MPR News reports.

The volunteers appeared to be drawn from the same diverse demographic groups as those who took the streets throughout the week, with Black, brown, white and Muslim residents all seen participating in the collective clean up effort.

The efforts come as protests continued through the weekend, despite the Twin Cities declaring curfews restricting the movement of residents.

Hillary Clinton’s Achievements as Secretary of State

Some people say that Hillary Clinton had no achievements as the U.S. Secretary of State; but that view is factually false. She had a huge and enduring impact, on at least three countries, as will here be documented via the links:

HONDURAS:

When the dozen oligarchs who control Honduras overthrew Honduras’s popular democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya on 28 June 2009, and installed a military junta which set about exterminating its opposition, the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was able, alone of officials in the Western Hemisphere, to keep that regime in power (despite efforts by all other governments in the Hemisphere to restore the legal government), by arranging increased military and economic aid to the new government. Soon afterward, Honduras had the world’s highest murder-rate, and a surging outflow of poor people through Mexico into the United Sates as refugees from the exploding violence at home.

As Vice News reported on 9 September 2014: “Overall, illegal immigration from Central America has risen about 500% since late 2010. Families, single moms, and children, are a larger and larger share of people who make the long, and potentially dangerous trek through Mexico, to the United States. More child migrants are now coming from San Pedro Sula Honduras and surrounding areas [the Bajo Aguán Valley], than anyplace else in Central America; and, as ordinary Hondurans told us over and over again, the outflow is being fueled by an explosive mix of violence, poverty, and inequality.” The democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya, whom Hillary Clinton’s Honduran friends had overthrown, had been trying to impose land reform and other measures which were addressed to meeting the needs of the millions of Honduras’s poor, but the new Honduran government viewed the Honduran masses as trash, and eliminated President Zelaya’s programs to help them.

The November 2013 study by the Center for Economic and Policy Research, “Honduras Since the Coup,” reported that: “Economic growth has slowed since the coup. … Economic inequality, which decreased for four consecutive years starting in 2006 [Zelaya had ruled Honduras from 27 January 2006 through 28 June 2009], began trending upward in 2010. Honduras now has the most unequal distribution of income in Latin America.”

The September 2011 study by the International Federation for Human Rights and by the Association of World Council of Churches, “Honduras Human Rioghts Violations,” reported that, “Since the coup d’etat, … several missions and reports by national and international human rights bodies and organisations have documented systematic and grave human rights violations in Honduras.”

MINN. GOVERNOR & MAYOR LIED: Jail records Show Most Arrested in Minneapolis Riots Live in Minnesota

The overwhelming majority of people arrested in connection with the Minneapolis unrest have Minnesota addresses, a search of the online Hennepin County Jail log shows.

Of the 45 people arrested for rioting, unlawful assembly, stolen property, burglary or robbery on May 29 and May 30 so far, 38 had Minnesota addresses, according to publicly available jail records reviewed by FOX 9.

Police Station and Courthouse in Portland Looted and Set Afire

Dozens of businesses in Portland, OR are reporting damage due to looting and breakage as rioters broke into police headquarters and the Multnomah county justice center and started fires.

Portland, judged the most liberal city in America by some and considered one of the top ten places to live in the country, is on fire.

Mayor Ted Wheeler was forced to leave the city to attend to his dying mother, but he came rushing back to town yesterday to declare a state of emergency and order an 8:00 PM curfew.

Portland’s police headquarters was stormed on Friday night as protesters broke windows and lit a fire in the building.

According to Portland Police officials, the city’s Justice Center was attacked amid a riot against the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis earlier this week. Five arrests have been made at the time of writing.

The Oregonian said protests took a turn shortly after 11 p.m. local time, when some taking part in the demonstration marched on the Multonomah County Justice Center and attacked an office.

This Is How Systems Collapse

Flooding the financial system with "free money" only restores the illusion of stability

I updated my How Systems Collapse graphic from 2018 with a "we are here" line to indicate our current precarious position just before the waterfall:

For those who would argue we're nowhere near collapse, consider that over 20% of the Federal Reserve's $2 trillion spew of free money went directly into the pockets of America's billionaires: $434 billion by the latest estimates, while most of the rest went into the pockets of the top 10% who own all the assets that the Fed is goosing higher while millions of households are worried about feeding themselves: (American billionaires got $434 billion richer during the pandemic).

In America's system, the solution to soaring, destabilizing inequality is… to goose inequality to new heights. No wonder there's no middle ground left politically, socially or financially, and social disorder is so easily ignited. There are few feedback loops left in our fragile system; the rich get richer, and rather than restore some balance, our political system further empowers the parasitic and predatory financial elites. The rich and politically powerful are one group, sharing control of public and private institutions.

One way to understand "middle ground" is that the middle ground acts as a buffer between systemic extremes. The key concepts here are stability and buffers. Though complex systems are never static, but they can be stable: that is, they ebb and flow within relatively stable states supported by buffers.

America's social, political and economic buffers have been thinned by extremes and excesses, but nobody noticed or cared: America's reigning credo is: anything goes, winners take all.

In systems, this ebb and flow of low-level volatility generates stability and adaptation. In natural systems, feedback loops between the weather, environment and plant/animal species keep the ecosystem in a state of dynamic equilibrium. Ideal weather conditions may spark a rise in an insect population, for example, which then enables an increase in insect-predator populations (fish, birds, frogs, etc.) which then increases the consumption of the insects and reduces the impact of the higher insect population.

If the river runs low, the human populace relies on wells for reserves of water. In good harvests, grain is set aside for lean harvests; the wells and grain stores are buffers which can be drawn down to restore stability to a stressed system.

Buffers are largely invisible and of little common interest in times of abundance. When water and grain are well-supplied, who cares if the stores have spoiled and the well water tastes bad?

An Antifa terrorist was caught in the act of setting a fire a the Nashville city hall and courthouse building Saturday night by reporters from the Tennessean who posted video and a photo of the arson in progress.

Multiple fires ended up being set and the building was spray-painted with anti-Trump and anti-police graffiti.
