ROME, Italy, May 26, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — Last Sunday, Pope Francis once again called Chinese Catholics to be “good citizens.” On the feast of Our Lady of Sheshan, patroness of China, the Holy Father briefly talked about the Asian country following his weekly Regina Caeli prayer.
“We entrust to the guidance and protection of our Heavenly Mother the pastors and faithful of the Catholic Church in that great country,” Pope Francis said, “so that they may be strong in faith and firm in fraternal union, joyful witnesses and promoters of charity and fraternal hope, and good citizens.”
The pope did not mention the 2018 accord between the Vatican and China, the details of which are not public. Since the 1950s, the Vatican had supported the underground Church, which is still being persecuted by the Chinese government today. The Vatican-China deal seemingly legitimized the Communist-organized Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association (CPCA), despite its allegiance to the pro-abortion, pro-contraception Chinese government over the Church.

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales wasted no time in criticizing President Donald Trump for his recent executive order relating to social media, calling the President a “lunatic.”
The Economic Times of India reports that Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales has criticized President Trump for the recent executive order related to social media. Wales stated that while social media platforms should be careful about censorship, the government should not regulate them to do so.
In an interview with ET NOW, Wales also discussed fighting fake news in India and handling misinformation relating to the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Wales said during the exclusive interview: z’If President Trump tweets something that is nonsense we don’t accept that as a source of information for random things he says on Twitter. New reports have emerged indicating that illegal migrants in the process of crossing the English Channel often threaten to drown themselves or their children when they are intercepted by French vessels seeking to return them to their camps in France.
Migrants often cross the Channel in flimsy inflatable dinghies, putting themselves in danger in their effort to pursue what they consider to be richer pickings for illegals in the United Kingdom than they find in the camps along the French coast. When these migrants are intercepted by vessels flying the French flag, they often threaten to either throw themselves or their children overboard in order to avoid being rescued –and
When this happens, the French vessels are forced to withdraw and merely trail the boats until they are intercepted by UK Border Force ships. The migrants are no doubt aware that once they are met by British security personnel they will be escorted to the UK and treated as asylum-seekers rather than returned to France.
The number of Channel crossings by illegal migrants has been dramatically rising this year. More than 1,700 migrants have successfully crossed to the UK so far this year — as compared to 1,890 during all of 2019. Of those, only 155 have been returned to France since the beginning of 2019.
Priti Patel, the UK’s Home Secretary, promised to make such crossings an “infrequent phenomena” by this spring, but has clearly failed. She is ordering her staff to look for new ways to deal with the crisis, including increasing the powers of the Home Office to return migrants to their points of origin.
A new record was set last month when 90 migrants were intercepted in the English Channel during a single day. They are continuing to come — and are welcomed into the UK — despite the fact that cases of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) are being reported in the migrant camps along the French coast, as previously reported by Voice of Europe. The UK nevertheless remains closed to legal international travel due to the pandemic.

Belgium: Muslim man sentenced for attempting to murder his ex-wife who left Islam
A man who has been identified only as Mohammed EW has been sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment in Belgium for raping and then attempting to murder his ex-wife because she had left the Islamic faith.
The victim, Fatima L, now 32, had been forced to marry Mohammed in 2008 in Morocco before joining him in Belgium. She filed for divorce from him several years later on the grounds that her husband regularly abused, imprisoned, and raped her, according to a report by Het Laatste Nieuws.
Fatima moved repeatedly in an attempt to prevent her ex-husband from knowing her whereabouts, but each time she moved he managed to locate her. During this period, she renounced Islam.
Finally, on October 1, 2017, Mohammed came to Fatima’s home and demanded that she dance for him. When she refused, he tied her up and raped her. He then threatened her with a butcher’s knife, telling her that he would “do Allah a great favour” by killing an apostate and a woman who had left Islam. After forcing to her to recite the prayer for the dead from the Qur’an, he began stabbing her repeatedly in the upper body and face. Mohammed stabbed her 18 times, causing Fatima to bleed profusely.
Fatima then pretended to be dead, knowing that this was her only chance for survival. After Mohammed left her flat, she managed to drag herself to a bench outside, where she was rescued by a passerby.
Mohammed, who is now 33, could have received a prison sentence of up to 20 years, but the Public Prosecutor only asked for 10 years for attempted murder. The judge ultimately gave him 9 years on the grounds that he did not consider the accusation that the murder was premeditated to be proven.
Fatima has expressed her disappointment through her lawyer for what she regards as a lenient sentence for the crime, and is concerned that Mohammed will track her down again when he is released.
Muslim men who murder their wives for perceived slights have become a problem in Western Europe in recent years. Last month Kamran Khan, a Pakistani man living in Denmark, was sentenced for the murder of his Danish wife, who had converted to Islam to marry him, as previously reported by Voice of Europe.

The Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands (PMRF) located on the Hawaiian island of Kauai will soon be hosting the 293rd Offensive Space Control Squadron of the US Space Force, but will only use the facility's existing capabilities. The squadron will focus on defending US space communication systems from attacks from the outside and conduct electronic warfare in space to disrupt the communications of a potential enemy.
This is not the only important task that the facility is currently doing for the Pentagon. The PMRF is also one of the main testing sites for modern American weapons, specifically missiles, and is used by government agencies and private contractors alike.

US senators urge extension to uranium import quota
A bipartisan group of US Senators has called for the Department of Commerce (DOC) to extend the Russian Suspension Agreement (RSA), as recommended by the Nuclear Fuel Working Group (NFWG).
The letter to Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary Jeffrey Kessler was signed by Senator John Barrasso, who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, and Senators Martin Heinrich, Lisa Murkowski, Joe Manchin, Mike Braun, Tom Udall, Kevin Cramer, Mike Enzi, Tom Cotton and Lindsey Graham. In it, the senators called for DOC to reduce imports of Russian uranium to below existing limits. This, they said, will protect the USA's natural uranium fuel supply chain from "aggressive and illegal trade practices of nuclear state-owned enterprises of foreign adversaries".
The NFWG was established by President Donald Trump in July 2019 to undertake a fuller analysis of national security considerations with respect to the entire nuclear fuel supply chain, following on from a presidential decision in response to a Section 232 Petition from two US uranium miners, Energy Fuels Inc and Ur-Energy, which called for a quota on uranium imports. The working group's report, Restoring America's Competitive Nuclear Energy Advantage: A strategy to assure US National Security, setting out recommendations to support US strategic fuel cycle capabilities and revitalise the sector, was published last month.
