Let's get a couple things straight … first of all, cops are CIVILIANS … they don't get to "light her up". Secondly, this ain't Fallujah and the Constitution still applies. Even under curfew, I am allowed to be anywhere on my own property.
I promise you that I am a greater threat from INSIDE my window, where they can't see me, than I am standing on my porch with empty hands. These women were clearly unarmed and well away from the "whoever" (I saw no insignia) marching up their street with this show of force. And seriously, I'm not buying the "paint ball" bullshit. Whatever it was, it had a muzzle flash and CO2 doesn't have a muzzle flash … that distinction belongs to gunpowder. If you were the sort of person who belongs here, you'd have noticed the flash. You didn't, so go away.
Secondly, there is GOOD reason why weekend paint ball warriors wear armor and face shields. Even from the CO2 there is a substantial risk of significant injury. The people on that porch, passively watching the spectacle unfolding on their street, weren't wearing ANY protective gear and weren't posing ANY threat from 30+ yds away. So as you are leaving, don't forget to pick up your free fuckoff.
This, coupled with reports of police firing tear gas on dispersed protestors who are well away from them (prior to any aggression by the protestors), tells me that we have not yet identified the exact nature of current events. These men were traveling down a quiet suburban street and did this and that tells me that something has snapped in their relationship with the rest of the world. They've lost touch with the whole "here to protect" thing. Are these the same cops who couldn't protect their own station house? Maybe their asshole is now so tight that they aren't getting enough blood to their brains and either CANNOT EVALUATE A THREAT or have decided to lash out for their humiliation at the defenseless, since they could not stand up to the opposition two days ago.
They have a commie mayor and a commie governor … but that isn't this woman's fault.
