aside from the obvious Washington monument in DC, civil war memorials adopted the obelesk because that's what was in style back them. Easy to find on line, they are located in Ohio, and VA, and MD, and I beleive IIRC Georgia. There are many more, and sometimes they are in cemeteries an sometimes they are on battle fields. As an archeologist one of the things they teach them is don't destroy historical shit, she needs to be fired from her job and shamed into oblivion to the point of job loss.
