Britain, France, Germany ‘regret’ US decision to end sanctions waivers on Iran’s nuclear program

Britain, France, and Germany have criticized a decision by the United States to end sanctions waivers for companies from countries that remain in the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran.

“We deeply regret the U.S. decision to end the three waivers covering key JCPOA nuclear projects in Iran,” a joint May 30 statement from the three European powers said.

The waivers were part of the landmark agreement signed with Tehran in 2015 that limited Iran’s nuclear activities in return for lifting crippling economic sanctions.

They allowed European, Chinese, and Russian companies to work on the conversion of a heavy-water reactor in Arak, a major industrial city in western Iran.

SILENT MAJORITY: Poll Shows American Voters Support Use of Military, National Guard in Riots

A new poll by Morning Consult found that large majorities of American voters, including a majority of Democrat supporters, back use of the National Guard to address the riots and protests tearing apart cities around the nation. A smaller majority of Americans supports using the military.

The poll backs up the President’s claim that a “silent majority” is on his side in cracking down on the unrest.

‘Bomb thrower’ lawyers Colinford Mattis, Urooj Rahman to be released on bond

The two Brooklyn lawyers accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail into a police car during a protest early Saturday morning are set to be released from federal lockup after a judge approved bond for the pair in court hearings Monday.

Judge Steven Gold approved $250,000 bond for both Brooklyn community board member Colinford Mattis, 32, and his alleged accomplice, 31-year-old Urooj Rahman — despite strenuous objections from federal prosecutors.

Both Mattis and Rahman will be subject to home confinement and their family and friends who have offered to post the bond will be held responsible for paying if the lawyers jump bail, Gold said at the hearings.

An appeal of the decision by federal prosecutors in a separate court hearing Monday evening was shot down by another judge.

80% More Guns Sold In May Of This Year Than In May Of 2019

Americans purchased more than 80% more guns in the month of May than they did in May of 2019, a new analysis found.

Private citizens acquired more than 1.7 million firearms last month, and handgun scales skyrocketed by 90% when compared to sales in the same month last year, according to Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting’s (SAAF) analysis of FBI NICS data.

Rifle sales increased by around 66% amid both uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and violent uprisings associated with the death of George Floyd, who died with a Minneapolis police officer’s knee on his neck,” the firm said.

May was the third consecutive month with a record-high for gun sales in the United States, the Washington Free Beacon reports. It is further estimated that over 6 million guns have been sold since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Free Beacon.
