Phillipines is scared of China. They're playing both sides even though it seems like they favor China.
I've never been to country that loves Americans as much as the phillipines. US liberation from Japanese occupation is still fresh in their older generations minds.
With that being said they know how fickle peace can be and how vulnerable they are to occupation.
