HOAX? Black Lives Matter Extortion Flyers Posted in Wealthy Houston Neighborhood Threatens ‘Luxury Stores’ With Looting

Flyers were reported posted around the wealthy Houston neighborhood of Highland Village in recent days that threaten residents with looting if they don’t support the Black Lives Matter movement. Highland Village police said they are aware of the flyers.

The Cross Timber Gazette reported on the flyers (excerpt):

…Some residents in the area doubt the flyers’ legitimacy. Highland Village and Flower Mound police said they are working Tuesday to determine who distributed the flyers and if the threat is serious.

The flyers were posted Monday night and/or Tuesday morning in southern Denton County, and they say that the area was specifically targeted because of “the socioeconomic status your town holds.” The looting threat follows…

…Highland Village Police Chief Doug Reim said Tuesday morning that he didn’t know who posted the flyers. He said the QR code on the flyers takes you to a webpage that is “similar” to Black Lives Matter, but isn’t verified. The flyers don’t claim to be from BLM, but they do have a #BlackLivesMatter hashtag. Some believe the threats are fake, and are meant to make protestors look bad…

The text of the flyer reads:

Removing this flier shows the type of person you are.

Hello Highland Village. These fliers are being posted in your area due to the socioeconomic status your town holds. The average household income for Highland Village is $166,243.

If you want your luxury stores to stop being looted, then use your privilege and socioeconomic advantages to amplify and aid the voices of this movement.

Celebrities call for cuts to police budgets. Demand those funds be redistributed to benefit black communities.

Quite a demand

A horde of celebrities have signed an open letter calling for state and local governments to cut police budgets and reallocate the funds to necessary areas to benefit the black community.

The open letter is to supplement a petition of the same type from The Movement for Black Lives.

The Movement for Black Lives is a coalition of over 100 black rights organizations in the U.S.

What are the details?

Celebrities such as John Legend, Lizzo, Jane Fonda, The Weeknd, and Natalie Portman have signed the letter, which demands a decrease in police budgets.

The letter, which says police brutality and COVID-19 are "connected and consequential to each other," cites the need for such a move as based upon current and past events, such as the murder of George Floyd.

"The COVID-19 deaths and the deaths caused by police terror are connected and consequential to each other," a portion of the letter states. "The United States does not have a national healthcare system. Instead, we have the largest military budget in the world, and some of the most well-funded and militarized police departments in the world, too. Policing and militarization overwhelmingly dominate the bulk of national and local budgets. In fact, police and military funding has increased every single year since 1973, and at the same time, funding for public health decreased every year, crystallized most recently when the Trump administration eliminated the U.S. Pandemic Response Team in 2018, citing 'costs.'"

The letter continues, "Despite continued profiling, harassment, terror, and killing of Black communities, local and federal decision-makers continue to invest in the police, which leaves Black people vulnerable and our communities no safer."

Money should be siphoned from police budgets, the group says, and funneled to black neighborhood infrastructures, child care, education, and to help create a public national health care system.

The letter concludes, "Vote no on all increases to police budgets. Vote yes to decrease police spending and budgets. Vote yes to increase spending on Health care, Education, and Community programs that keep us safe."

What else?

The Weeknd revealed that he donated $200,000 to the Black Lives Matter Global Network, $200,000 to The Colin Kaepernick Know Your Rights Camp Legal Defense Initiative, and $100,000 to National Bail Out.

Actress America Ferrera also signed the letter, and taking to social media, wrote, "In my home city of Los Angeles, 54% of the city's budget goes to police! OVER HALF!!! I can't even find 'education resources' in the Mayor's budget pie! A healthy society is not built on policing! We need healthcare, education, jobs, and social services! If you're not enraged by this than [sic] you're not paying attention."

U.S. Women's national soccer team star Megan Rapinoe also made similar statements, signed the letter, and called for governments to defund the police.

"I signed on to #DefendBlackLives and to push to #DefundThePolice," Rapinoe wrote.

NBC News Praises 'Good Samaritan' Who Hid Rioters Breaking Curfew From Cops

Rioters, looters, and worse tore parts of Washington, D.C., asunder since last week over the killing of George Floyd, a black man, by Minneapolis police officers. Over the weekend, violent protesters tried to scale the fences protecting the White House and Lafayette Square which sits across from the rioter-torched St. John’s Church. They defaced beloved national monuments. Businesses were burned, peoples’ life savings torched to satisfy the selfish hunger of the rioters, who apparently felt invincible.

Rioters, who included antifa and Black Lives Matter, were so destructive over the weekend that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser set a 7 p.m. curfew on Monday evening.

But a contingent of protesters, lawbreakers, and rioters stayed behind and planned to break curfew to keep on “protesting.”

On Swann Street NW in D.C., police had closed off both ends of the street in what police call a “kettling” maneuver.

Officers waited to arrest the dead-enders for breaking the curfew imposed because of the rioting.

Fox 5 DC reports that among the hundreds of protesters on Swann Street were people arrested for curfew violation, burglary, rioting, attacking two police officers, and setting a patrol car on fire.

Protesters said they “were trapped” and pleaded with police to let them go. They wouldn’t think of breaking curfew again and continuing their rioting. Trust us, they said.

The officers boxed in protesters and started to make arrests. Fox 5 DC reports that police made more than 300 arrests on Monday alone and they arrested 194 of those people near the rioter stronghold on Swann Street NW.
