“This was done in a time of deep hurt and pain in our country, and his action did nothing to help us or to heal us,”
added Curry, the first African American to hold that leadership post for U.S. Episcopalians.
The Rev. Mariann Budde, whose diocese St. John's belongs to said she was “outraged”
As protests nationwide flared following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, St. John's suffered minor damage Sunday night from a
fire in the church basement.
Budde said “our suffering was minimal” compared with businesses that were destroyed by recent looting, even as she defended the goals of peaceful protesters responding to Floyd's killing.
Budde took her position at the church in Washington in 2011 after spending 18 years in Minneapolis.

The slurring of Episcopalians by Trump supporters is as offensive as it is stupid.
My father was a born again Episcopalian and lifelong conservative.'''
For what it’s worth, when he goes, Trump goes to an Episcopal Church

The Episcopal Church and others are organizing and distributing badly needed aid to those impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
They are doing God’s work in the shadow of this tragedy.
There is so much left to do. #Matthew25

“What are we going to do? Where are we going to go? How are we going to survive this? That’s why we came,” Burton, 55,
said from Christ Episcopal Church, founded by Bahamian settlers,
in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood.
She and her children, Hannah, 16, and Blair, 21, are living with a cousin who brought them to the church that day before a noon service.
