Jared Kushner has had his security clearance downgraded, barring him from much of the top-secret information he previously had access to as a senior White House adviser.

President Trump’s son-in-law, who serves as an unpaid adviser and whose family is worth an estimated $2 billion, was one of several aides to have been excluded from top-level intelligence.

Mr Kushner, 37, had been working with an interim clearance that had allowed him to access America’s most prized secrets — the so-called “sensitive compartmentalised information” that is included in the president’s daily intelligence briefing.
