Never interrupt your enemy when they are in the process of making a mistake.
The virtue of Western - and American civilization in particular is that the people are the government and whose consent is required for a government to operate.
If the enemy is going to burn down the corrupt system in an effort to scare people and erect their own - why would we, also, expend effort in destroying what they will do for us?
So long as the people survive with the concept of self-governance intact, and hold sufficient power as to be able to assert our sovereignty, then we win.
An enemy that will destroy itself need merely be survived.
