2 Million First-Time Gun Owners in First Half of 2020 Alone
As concerns over self-defense became more pronounced in 2020, initially during the cornonavirus hysteria and then during the current spate of protests and riots, two million Americans became first-time gun owners.

Earlier this week Breitbart News reported that May 2020 shattered the record for the number of National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS) checks performed in a given May. FBI numbers show 3,091,455 NICS checks were conducted in May 2020, easily surpassing the previous record of 2,349,309 checks set in May 2019 and dominating the numbers from any other May since records began to be kept in May 1999.
Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting reported that May 2020 gun sales were up 80 percent over sales in May 2019, and they explained the vast majority of the guns sold were handguns. This suggests self-defense is of paramount concern for gun buyers.

Military group blasts ‘war crimes’ investigation of US troops by International Criminal Court
A military organization representing families of soldiers across the globe is condemning a recent attempt by international courts to prosecute U.S. military personnel for alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.
The Military Coalition (TMC) published a letter on Monday to President Donald Trump decrying the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) investigation, which the letter warns “could lead to the arrest, prosecution, and detention of American military personnel and veterans in foreign countries.” The United States conducted its own investigations and refused to join the ICC, the letter adds.
“More than 5.5 million current and former service members, veterans, and their families and survivors, wish to express deep concern about an effort by the International Criminal Court (#ICC) to pursue investigations of U.S. service members and associated personnel,” the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD) wrote on Twitter. The FDD also published a copy of the letter in the tweet.

Iran frees US Navy vet Michael White – US officials
Michael White, a veteran of the US Navy who was arrested in Iran in 2018, has been released by Tehran and has reportedly left the country on a Swiss government aircraft.
White’s mother, Joanne White, said in a statement on Thursday that her son was on his way home and expressed gratitude to the US government and a team at the State Department, as well as Swiss diplomats, for helping him.
“We understand that there is great interest in Michael’s story. In time Michael will tell it himself, his way,” she added, asking people respect the family’s privacy in the meantime.

White is to be met at Zurich by US special envoy for Iran, Brian Hook, the AP reported. The diplomat and a doctor he brought with him will accompany the released detainee back to the US.
The 46-year-old was detained by the Iranian authorities in June 2018 while in the country to visit his girlfriend. Last year, White was sentenced to 10 years in prison for insulting Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and publishing a private photo.
In March 2020, he was given a furlough from prison as Iran was sending thousands of inmates home to reduce the risk of Covid-19 outbreaks in jails. He remained in custody at the Swiss embassy in Tehran until this week.

Smugglers in Mexicali continue to use ladders to climb border wall
MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY)-In broad daylight a ladder made out of ropes and PVC plastic pipes of approximately one inch, hangs on the new border wall that divides Mexicali-Calexico.
Although the ladder measures approximately 30 feet to climb, the traffickers of people known as “coyotes or polleros” continue to do their thing.
The ladder was placed on the fence between A and B streets on the Mexican side, at the height of Paseo De Su Alteza on the Calexico side.
The makeshift ladder made of 10 plastic and 3-rod steps was found hooked to the steel plate on the wall. The border patrol continues to monitor the area.
The director of firefighters in Mexicali, Rubén Osuna, reported that so far, they have received at least 10 emergency calls to remove ladders with special equipment to save people who are trapped on top of the wall.
It has been eight months since the construction of the new wall began on both sides of the border.

GOP Says Snapchat Should Spend Less Time Attacking Trump, More Time Going After Child Predators
The popular multimedia messaging service announced Wednesday that it would stop promoting President Trump’s content on its app’s Discover platform, concluding that his posts contain information that incites “racial violence and injustice.”
Senior Republican lawmakers are ticked off at Snap Inc, accusing the company of stifling free speech over its decision to stop prompting Donald Trump’s account, which has about 1.5 million followers, on its Snapchat platform.
“At this point, it is no surprise to anyone that Big Tech doesn’t believe in free speech and will happily censor views with which they disagree,” Republican Senator Ted Cruz, Trump adversary-turned congressional ally, told Politico.
“But this move is extraordinary even when measured by that low bar. Snapchat is explicitly censoring admittedly unobjectionable speech as punishment for completely unrelated speech off of Snapchat’s platform,” Cruz insisted.
In an explanation on its decision to stop promoting Trump’s posts, a Snap spokesman clarified Wednesday that while the president’s content will remain up, the company makes it policy “not amplify voices who incite racial violence and injustice by giving them free promotion on Discover. Racial violence and injustice have no place in our society, and we stand with all who seek peace, love, equality and justice in America.”

Governor Ralph “Blackface” Northam announced on Thursday he is removing the historic statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee in Richmond, Virginia.
The Robert E. Lee statue in Richmond was created by French sculptor Antonin Mercie. The cornerstone to the monument was placed in October 1887.
The statue was vandalized by leftists this past week in George Floyd protests.
It’s racist and offensive.
Northam is famous for posing in blackface or KKK in his college yearbook.
His ancestors owned slaves.
