Think in history, when there has been a major change in religion/power, the previous gods/goddesses are labeled as demons, when the cultures (at the time) were thanking the gods (at the time, folks who might have had a better enlightening of what they were here to do) for their might in ruling, their mercy in war, and their benevolence in study.
All were part of the greater whole, and never claimed they were the All (everything that is)
