Looking at the outcome of the French revolution 200 years on, would hard pressed to say it actually improved much. France is over run by Africans and Muslims, most of the enlightenment thinking has been replace by communism. They stomped out Christianity in public life and vacuum is filled by Islam.

The US is not fairing much better. It would seem that Freedom leads to multi multiculturalism which leads to anarchy.
