Your answer is correct. It is Evil. Satan wants to be worshiped, that is why he and the angels that followed him were kicked out of Heaven.
God created us in His own image; to glorify Him.
Satan hates God; Satan hates us.
He loves to see people destroyed from the soul to the skin.
Some he can convince to do it to their own selves. They are selfish, they hate, they are immoral. They call what is good bad and what is bad good. They glorify ugliness and filth and debauchery and destruction.
Creatures who were made to glorify God!
I think that the evil one must really get off on seeing men, made in God's image, destroying innocent people. And then they burn in hell.
The great fight is to become more like God. To love God and follow Him; to love others and serve them gladly. To be honest and good and productive.
This is what Satan hates.
A Mighty Fortress is Our God! We are born in and slaves to original sin and we can do no good on our own. It is only in Jesus Christ who actually came down to earth and bore our sins on the cross that we find true freedom and hope and ultimately, salvation.
