New revelations show Hillary Clinton ‘profited’ off ‘Pardongate’: Book

Bill Clinton was the tightest president since Thomas Jefferson when it came to granting convicts pardons and prison sentence commutations. But all that changed when his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, decided to run for the Senate in 2000 and needed all the help she could get. According to new details about the Clinton era “Pardongate,” the last of several scandals that plagued the administration and further sullied the former president’s reputation as he left office, the Democrat pushed for so many pardons to help his wife and cronies that lawyers running the 11th hour operation resorted to internet searches to determine the “fitness” of applicants.

“None profited more than Hillary Rodham Clinton,” said Sinclair Broadcast investigative reporter Mark Hyman in his upcoming book, Pardongate: How Bill & Hillary Clinton and Their Brothers Profited from Pardons. He told Secrets that 50 of Clinton’s eventual 457 clemency approvals directly aided allies of Hillary Clinton, including many that helped in her 2000 New York Senate victory that paved the way for her two failed presidential campaigns. “It was Hillary Rodham Clinton who was the key influence behind the worst of the worst pardons and commutations that disgraced the office of the president, undermined the legal system and demonstrated that justice could be sold,” Hyman said in his Post Hill Press book, out later this month. “Imagine to what extent a ‘President’ Hillary Rodham Clinton would thoroughly abuse the legal system to turn loose unrepentant, hardened criminals; reward wealthy donors; enrich her family and friends; and turn the executive clemency process into a glorified eBay get-out-of-jail-free card,” he added.

At a time when the media is hyper-focused on the pardons President Trump might grant to friends and allies tied to the Russia probe, Hyman’s book provides new proof that Pardongate will be hard to top in the scandal category. Uncovered in years of research were the ties between Clinton family members, including Bill Clinton’s brother and Hillary Clinton’s two brothers, allies like former chief of staff John Podesta and Rep. Jerry Nadler, and big donors, to the pardons. Hyman told us that 73% of the pardons came in Clinton’s last year and as Hillary was running for the Senate. While there are five hurdles those seeking for clemency must clear, Hyman found that Clinton’s team skipped several and in many cases gave pardons and commutations to people who didn’t even ask for one. Thirty never applied for clemency – and got it.

The most scandalous was for billionaire Marc Rich, the fugitive whose wife Denise who “funnelled” over $3 million to Clinton causes. His pardon came as Clinton handed the keys to the White House to George W. Bush, a day in which the Democrat would pardon 176, including his brother Roger and key Whitewater scandal figure Susan McDougal. Now, as reports persist that Trump is eager to pardon allies, Hyman told us that it will be hard to top the Clinton operation. “There’s speculation President Donald Trump may pardon some of those swept up in the Mueller investigation. Yet, nothing approaches the sheer audacity of Bill Clinton who gave away pardons so Roger Clinton and the Rodham brothers could pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars, and Hillary could stockpile political and financial IOUs,” he said.

Exclusive: Nearly a million bogus coronavirus cures and tests blocked from entering US

Customs officers inspecting international mail and shipments arriving at U.S. ports of entry from China, the United Kingdom, and other countries have made more than 500 seizures totaling 870,000 unapproved coronavirus treatments, tests, and masks since mid-March, the Washington Examiner has learned. As of Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have prevented 11,000 unverified chloroquine tablets and 107,300 coronavirus test kits — both of which had not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration — from entering the country, according to an official. CBP, the federal agency that oversees border security at land, sea, and airports, also seized 750,000 face masks not approved for use and 2,500 lanyards, or cords to put around the neck, that claim to repel the virus that were not approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. “Criminals and other bad actors are trying to profit from the coronavirus pandemic by introducing unauthorized, unproven, and potentially unsafe goods into the United States,” CBP Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan said in a statement. “CBP continues to target these dangerous shipments while facilitating the entry of legitimate pharmaceuticals and medical supplies that are needed to protect Americans.”

Seizures have been made at ports across the country, primarily at airports and seaports where packages ordered or cargo shipments coming from overseas must first be cleared by customs before going on to their final destination. Federal officers who work at Chicago’s O’Hare International Mail Facility, responsible for processing 20% of all international mail coming into the United States, in late May found 28,000 capsules of Lianhua Qingwen Jiaonang in a single package from China. The capsules claimed to treat the coronavirus, but items coming from illegitimate businesses abroad lack proper government approvals and required warnings or make inaccurate claims, making them a risk to U.S. consumers. More than 1,000 of the same capsules intended for someone in Union County, Pennsylvania, were seized in the mail during an inspection by Baltimore officers. At the Port of Vicksburg in Mississippi, officers found 2,000 "coronavirus cure" pills mailed from China. After testing them, the pills turned out to contain mostly sugar and iron. In Rochester, New York, officers looking at foreign mail have discovered 600 illegitimate coronavirus tests since March. Two weeks ago, officers working at a border crossing between El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, stopped a man with 1,000 counterfeit tests packed inside a suitcase.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, another agency within the Department of Homeland Security, launched Operation Stolen Promise earlier this spring to investigate international crimes involving personal protective equipment and pharmaceuticals amid the coronavirus pandemic. As of late May, ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations arm had made 18 criminal arrests, taken down nearly 37,000 illegitimate websites, and seized $4 million in profits from illegal sales of these items.
