Expect to see a renewed wave of outward migrations from the D states. Of people and companies. They will be left with those who are less mobile or simply unable to leave. Tax base will continue to erode.
But to your question: why? The politicians are forced to follow instructions. They’re not thinking about medium to long term consequences. And those setting the direction don’t case about economic realities. This is part of a grab for power. The assumption is that when power is seized, everything will change, including the laws of economics. They always overestimate their ability to accomplish their objectives. But they will be left holding a portfolio of Detroits unless enough of the electorate turns on them.
I realize that; but a thoughtful piece deserves a response. I hope that those who read it can supply the answers.
