FAKE SCIENCE on Hydroxychloroquine just resulted in one of the "biggest retractions in modern history"

While the retractions are important for the credibility of science, the damage to the entire world has already been done.
The influential New England Medical Journal and the Lancet have retracted controversial papers on COVID-19 treatments amid backlash.
A database by the Chicago company Surgisphere Corp. was used in an observational study of nearly 100,000 patients published on May 22 in the Lancet that tied the malaria drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine to a higher risk of death in hospitalized patients with the virus.
The validity of the data, however, has been called into question. The Guardian reported that Surgisphere “has so far failed to adequately explain its data or methodology” and says that the company’s “handful of employees appear to include a science fiction writer and an adult-content model.
Meanwhile, the questions swirling around the Lancet paper have left leaders of the halted chloroquine trials weighing whether to restart. “The problem is, we are left with all the damage that has been done,” says White, a co-investigator on a trial of hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 prevention that was halted at the request of U.K. regulators last week. Headlines proclaiming deadly effects will make it hard to recruit patients to key studies, he says. “The whole world thinks now that these drugs are poisonous.”
Of course, the damage to PUBLIC OPINION was a huge win for BIG PHARMA investors who depend on insanely expensive therapies to keep their corporate stock holders happy and to keep FAKE NEWS providers in business.
