A Message From Sheriff Freeman
The demonstration held today at the Forsyth County Courthouse has ended. Approximately 50 people attended and peacefully exercised their constitutional right to speech and assembly. No acts of violence or criminal violations occurred. FCSO worked closely with the organizer who was supportive in helping plan a safe event. We appreciate her support in reaching this conclusion.
An additional event is planned for tomorrow afternoon in downtown. Additional attendance is expected. FCSO is also working with that organizer to make sure the event is safe for all involved. We are well prepared to support any constitutional expression and will enforce legal action for any criminal violations.
Based upon traffic congestion, drivers may want to avoid the downtown square tomorrow afternoon. FCSO will report any updates as well as when the event has ended.
