Might it be said that satan got something of what he wanted in that he'll take a percentage of man down to hell with him for eternity. Now, it seems Satan wanted it all, but he's only going to get himself banished forever along with the eternally damned souls who won't repent.
'Lost forever' sounds a bit final to me though.
