Cabela's is no longer shipping black powder firearms directly to customers, and will not ship to stores for customer pick up. After my attempt to place an online order failed yesterday, I tried to order by phone and the customer service representative had no idea why my order wouldn't process; as the purchase of muzzle loading firearms doesn't require a permit in my state, or throughout most of our country as far as I know. My call was then transferred to a specialist. After attempting to process my order, she informed me that due to "everything that's going on," a corporate decision has been made to restrict the sale of black powder firearms to in store only. This is a tremendous restriction considering the severely limited inventory at my local Cabela's, and likely many others (as well as numerous online black powder retailers;) along with online and phone orders for in store pick up prohibited. Cabela's website has not been updated to inform potential customers of the new restriction; and my search results didn't reveal any public announcement. So I'm posting this news here as it may be of interest; particularly to anyone else living in a state with very strict gun laws, and/or executive orders prohibiting the submission and/or processing of all new permit applications.
