So National Guard was disarmed because there are significant amount of protesters planning to storm the whitehouse today since there are expected to be up to 1 million protesters in Washington, D.C and they don't want a situation where NG is forced to kill huge amount of people(they also don't want NG soldiers losing their weapons and protesters using them againts SS) What this also means is that Secret Service is probably also asked to stand down because they would also have to kill a lot of people if breach was to occur. The main point here is that whoever these protesters are, they are determined to die and storm there in huge mass.

So what happens if for example Secret Service mowes down 50-100 people? You will have big headlines all over the world and from that point on DS politicians&media start actively pushing for disarming whole SS protection at the WH, thus leaving the President vulnerable to attacks 24/7 he is in there. That might be hard to believe at the moment but when these kind of things happen, emotions are running wild with people and they don't think logically(same reason why FF mass murders are done to get stricter gun laws)
