Just a logical conclusion on Twitter shadow banning that should be considered IMHO:

Shadow banning by itself is a crude and obvious tactic that is relatively easily exposed. The more potent danger is at a higher level of sophistication. There is nothing to prevent them from identifying leftists and indipendents as they would “far right” or “alt right” or whatever. More specifically they likely would do something akin to pegging everyone on a spectrum. In so doing, the shadow banning can become more targeted so that it is much more effective while being nearly impossible to detect.

For example, there is no real benefit in censoring the far right from the far left because it’s unlikely grounds for persuasion. However, there could be benefits of shadowing moderate lefts to independents from right wing activists as to protect their threads from targeting for right wing influence. Likewise, under certain circumstances, right wing activist shadow banning would be limited to that part of the left wing spectrum that was deemed open to influence.

Besides the that sort of sophisticated targeting or gate keeping, it would also make sense conceal the shadow banning by making it intermittent to were it acts more like a filter than ban.

Twitter is a mass consciousness with a few people at the helm of tweaking its gross perceptions. I would guess that focusing on simple shadow banning is almost a crontrolled burned or red herring to the more sophisticated threat society is up against with this company.

Just a thought.
