Anon,
Two servers in two different continents both are secured. One site wants to have a presence on the other secure site but gets a little lazy. Thus instead of re-creating its text/image organically on the other secure site, the lazy individual will just to go to the other site and upload a link to the other secure site. Both sites are secured, however, the link between the two sites is WIDE open and can be seen by all with even basic SEO technology solutions (old 90s technology).
Thus, if you are trafficking (fill in the blank) on the edge of the web, you think you are secured, however, YOU ARE NOT as your link solutions' (backlinks, anchor links, etc) text elements are FULLY EXPOSED to the entire world. What text elements, you say? Maybe prostitution, drugs, etc.
Or,
If you are a journalist writing an article and you want to see how it looks on an unindex web skin that only can be assessed if you have the specific URL. Backlinks could help you find the created page and it can be f ool allowed while the different webskin versions are written and manipulated.
