One of the chief failings in our society is the almost complete eradication of accountability. The societal presumption is now that “it’s not their fault,” and then someone steps in to make everything better, usually by transferring costs to those who had nothing to do with the matter. Just look at the bullshit no charge/no detention response to riots. Absurd.
Without accountability there is no learning. Without accountability the signal is that nothing really matters.
We have an emerging society with far reaching arrested development.
A neotenous nation.
No good can come of this.
