Secretary Esper and Attorney General Barr BOTH AGREE that the Insurrection Act can be used as a last resort.

READ Secretary @EsperDoD’s full statement, which CBS did not air:

“The option to use active duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort, and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now. I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act.”

Barr told Margaret Brennan advisors agreed invoking Insurrection Act should only be done as last resort. She spliced in a clip of Esper saying he didn’t support invocation — editing out HIS statement about how it should only be used as “last resort” — and claimed it rebuked Barr.

Clear she was angry at Barr for repeatedly pointing out false reports from CBS and other outlets, but solution is not to do more false reporting.
