A PF anon posted this yesterday and it's been nagging at me ever since.

Here's a copy pasta of the text from that post:

Donna Carpenter, CEO of Burton, and widow of the late snowbaord tycoon, Jake Burton Carpenter is flying down to Los Cabos, Mexico. Probably got the kids with her too. Have fun and be safe please.

'My name is Jake, and I make snowboards': How Jake Burton Carpenter met Donna Carpenter

So today anon decides to do some digging around on Burton. Anon loves snowboarding so it felt natural. Do not care for John Kerry however. But his snowboarding does not go unnoticed. Anyway, back to Burton. This from wikipedia:

Personal life

Carpenter resided in Stowe, Vermont, with his wife, Donna and his son, Timi. Carpenter also had two other sons, George and Taylor.

In February 17, 1967 Jake's brother, Corporal George Carpenter died serving in Vietnam. Four years later, in 1971, Jake's mother Katherine died of Leukemia leaving Jake, his father and two sisters.

Carpenter met his future wife Donna Gaston at a 1982 New Year's Eve party. A little over a year later they married in Greenwich Connecticut.[3]

By 1985, Jake and his wife Donna moved to Austria to create a European base;Donna focused on the distribution arm.[3] About four years later they had their first child, George Burton Carpenter, in Rutland, Vermont. Their second son, Taylor Gaston Burton Carpenter, was born in Burlington, and their third son, Timi Eaton Burton Carpenter, was born in 1996.[3]

Jake Burton Carpenter was a member of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. Carpenter survived several health scares in his later years:knee injuries, testicular cancer, pulmonary embolism, and, notably, the Miller Fisher variant of Guillain–Barré syndrome,a rare and serious neurological disorder.[7]Carpenter died November 20, 2019, in Burlington, Vermont, [8] after announcing recurrence of his cancer to Burton staff earlier in the month.

Anon feels really bad for the Carpenter family. The guy was a legend and did so much for the sport of snowboarding. I dare say that, without Burton, snowboarding would not be the Olympic event that it is today. But back to that nagging feeling. Maybe it was the photo of Donna Carpenter hold a basket of fresh baked bread that made me feel such a strong connection and made me take another look. After all, we love our bakers round these parts, right anons?

So I go the company webpage and what do I see in the upper left corner?AnonAnon, that's what I see. Anon goggles. Baker? Anon? Q says in drop 4344 "The truth is right in front of you." What is right in front of us anons? That's right. A board. One that sometimes freezes. Too many coincidences for this anon to ignore.Baker. Anon. Freezing Boards.

I think it's safe to say that Jake Burton Carpenter was a hero to flow motion sports enthusiasts everywhere. Snowboarders. Surfers. Skaters. Et al. Given his time in Austria, anon wonders if he may be an unsung hero to his country. Knock? Knock? My two cents.
