it may be telling to see which countries are first to ease visa requirements.

currently, many countries are requiring something like the following:

(1) must show a recent covid-19 test with negative result ;

(2) must show proof of health insurance that would pay at least $100,000 in case of hospitalization due to covid ;

(3) must agree to spend the first two weeks of your stay in quarantine at your own expense ;

for many people, it's just not worth the hassle. Why would you travel abroad to do a week's worth of business meetings or tourist activities if you first have to spend 2 weeks in a hospital quarantine despite not being sick?

countries that depend heavily on tourism are getting crushed with this crap and they are starting to get pretty angry about it too as they wake up to the fact that covid was largely a hoax.
