Agree with your theory on the mutineers.
Gen Flynn, Adm Rogers, Pompeo (West Point Valedictorian) from the military side and Keith Schiller (Trump security) and Erik Prince (Navy Seal, Blackwater/Academi private security) is a pretty powerful stable of minds (among others I'm sure I missed) to counter whatever the mutineers have.
Not saying it will be easy, just that I don't think Trump is unprepared.
May have to add Tom Cotton to that mix as well.

Ellison may try to bring the 4 cops to trial and have them be acquitted to invoke a 2nd wave, but I think it will be a campaign issue by then and a loser for the dems. German anti-Trump rhetoric and insults are off the charts. Puts bases in danger. My guess is they were told to stop it and refused/couldn't.
