Democrat Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear Announces Plans to Provide 100% Health Coverage For Black Residents

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear (D) on Monday announced his plans to provide 100% health coverage for black residents.

Mr. Beshear said it’s part of the state’s plan to tackle systemic racism in the healthcare system.

“In our health care system, the inequalities have been laid bare and exposed by this COVID-19 pandemic and the results of inequality in health care have been shown in depth,” Beshear said. “By allowing this type of inequality to exist for as long as it has, we see African Americans dying at twice the rate that they make up of the population, it shouldn’t have taken this pandemic or these demonstrations for us to commit to ending it.”

“My commitment today is we are gonna begin an effort to cover 100 percent of our individuals in our black and African-American communities, everybody” the Democrat governor said. “We’re gonna be putting dollars behind it.”

Jeffrey Epstein Case Judge Has Ties to Cops Who Want to Keep Records Secret

Judge Krista Marx did not disclose any potential conflicts of interest when ruling not to release grand jury records related to disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, despite having connections to those involved in the case.

Epstein was first investigated in 2005 by the Palm Beach Police Department after a women alleged her 14-year-old stepdaughter had been taken to Epstein's mansion and paid $300 to strip and massage him. The investigation resulted in the police filing a probable cause affidavit in May 2006, suggesting Epstein be charged with four counts of unlawful sex with minors and one count of sexual abuse.

Former Florida State Attorney Barry Krischer declined to prosecute Epstein on these charges. Instead, he took the unusual step of convening a grand jury—something generally only done in capital cases—and presented evidence from two victims. The grand jury charged Epstein with one count of felony solicitation of prostitution.

Marx is the Chief Judge in the 15th Judicial Circuit of Florida in Palm Beach, Florida. Marx was formerly employed by Krischer. In addition, Marx's daughter works as an assistant state attorney for current State Attorney Dave Aronberg, while her son is a sheriff's deputy under Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, according to information uncovered by the Miami Herald's Julie K. Brown. Brown has written a number of articles for the Herald exposing Epstein.

Aronberg, along with county clerk Sharon Bock, was sued by The Palm Beach Post to release the grand jury records. Marx dismissed the case Wednesday without disclosing that she had any connection to the defendant.

In January, after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered an investigation into why Krischer decided not to prosecute Epstein—or even speak to Epstein's accusers or their parents, according to The Palm Beach Post—and why Bradshaw allegedly allowed Epstein to have sex with women while in sheriff's custody, Marx also refused to unseal the records, characterizing the request as a "fishing expedition."

A "fishing expedition" is legal slang for when a prosecutor makes a non-specific search for information by calling for all the documents related to a case. Though the tactic is legal, it is often seen as an attempt by prosecutors to bolster a weak case by combing through mountains of information to look for anything incriminating.

When confronted by the Herald about Brown's findings, Marx declined to comment.

Facebook moderators call on Zuckerberg to honor “Black employees and users” and censor President Trump

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has shown a metered reaction towards Trump’s recent posts about the protests. While other social media platforms have taken action and censored the President, Facebook’s decision not to isn’t sitting well with some of its employees.

We’ve already discussed the ways employees are expressing anger at management over the decision – and now it appears Facebook moderators are the next to voice their dissatisfaction.

It is worth noting that Facebook moderators are bound by NDAs which prevent them from revealing their identity. They are, therefore, forced to be anonymous while voicing their concerns.

“We need to express that Mr Zuckerberg’s words about personal dismay caused by Trump’s ‘looting and shooting’ rhetoric are not enough. The benefit of the doubt this politician is being given as a user, even with such a large platform, is unparalleled – the attempt to retroactively place his words behind the context of other posts actually has had effect of putting it on an isolated pedestal. This may be the ultimate exhibit of white exceptionality and further legitimization of state brutality we have witnessed in the last weeks,” read an excerpt from the letter.

The moderators, who have collectively penned the letter, further say that work from home has alienated them further and that they are restricted from voicing out their concerns boldly.

“We are not able to speak freely because we communicate mainly on the company channels. It’s really tricky to even talk about it, to find someone and ask if they want to sign this sort of statement.”

The co-founder of Foxglove, the legal nonprofit organization that has coordinated the letter by Facebook moderators, said that the company should pay more attention to what the moderators have to say, considering the fact that they are on the frontlines of battling “hate speech” on the platform on a regular basis.

The letter concluded by asking Zuckerberg and the management to reconsider their decision regarding Trump’s comments and to honor the “voices of its Black employees and users”.

FBI launches open attack on ‘foreign’ alternative media outlets challenging US foreign policy

Under FBI orders, Facebook and Google removed American Herald Tribune, an alternative site that publishes US and European writers critical of US foreign policy. The bureau’s justification for the removal was dubious, and it sets a troubling precedent for other critical outlets.

The FBI has publicly justified its suppression of dissenting online views about US foreign policy if a media outlet can be somehow linked to one of its adversaries. The Bureau’s justification followed a series of instances in which Silicon Valley social media platforms banned accounts following consultations with the FBI.

In a particularly notable case in 2018, the FBI encouraged Facebook, Instagram and Google to remove or restrict ads on the American Herald Tribune (AHT), an online journal that published critical opinion articles on US policy toward Iran and the Middle East. The bureau has never offered a clear rationale, however, despite its private discussions with Facebook on the ban.

The FBI’s first step toward intervening against dissenting views on social media took place in October 2017 with the creation of a Foreign Influence Task Force (FTIF) in the bureau’s Counterintelligence Division. Next, the FBI defined any effort by states designated by the Department of Defense as major adversaries (Russia, China, Iran and North Korea) to influence American public opinion as a threat to US national security.

In February 2020, the FBI defined that threat in much more specific terms and implied that it would act against any online media outlet that was found to fall within its ambit. At a conference on election security on February 24, David K. Porter, who identified himself as Assistant Section Chief of the Foreign Influence Task Force, defined what the FBI described as “malign foreign influence activity” as “actions by a foreign power to influence U.S. policy, distort political sentiment and public discourse.”

Porter described “information confrontation” as a force “designed to undermine public confidence in the credibility of free and independent news media.” Those who practice this dark craft, he said, seek to “push consumers to alternative news sources,” where “it’s much easier to introduce false narratives” and thus “sow doubt and confusion about the true narratives by exploiting the media landscape to introduce conflicting story lines.”

AOC accuses Kayleigh McEnany of racism over a brief quote — then gets a swift dose of the truth

Ridiculous

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) accused White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany of intentionally not recognizing her as a congresswoman on Monday after seeing a brief quote on Twitter pointing to the Democratic socialist's role as an adviser to the Joe Biden campaign.

Ocasio-Cortez even suggested McEnany was racist over the alleged omission, but the press secretary was able to promptly set the record straight.

What are the details?

A Politico reporter covering McEnany's news conference quoted the press secretary as referring to Ocasio-Cortez as "Biden adviser Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez" from the lectern, and flagged the congresswoman on Twitter.

Ocasio-Cortez replied, "@PressSec wouldn't be the first person to mistake a women of color for having a lower position or title than she does, but Kayleigh - in case you haven't picked up a newspaper in two years, I'm a Congresswoman."

85 Shot – 24 Dead in Chicago’s Most Violent Weekend Following Leftist Riots — As Democrats Continue to Call to Defund the Police

The “mostly peaceful” leftist rioters in Chicago dragged police officers through the street and kicked them in the head last week.

The far left rioters and looters made Chicago’s Magnificent Mile look like Chicago’s Boarded Up Mile

By last weekend the left was calling to defund the police in several US cities.

This past weekend Chicago suffered its most violent weekend of the year.

84

The Sun-Times reported:

Twenty-four people were killed and at least 61 others were wounded by gun violence in Chicago’s most violent weekend of the year so far, which also saw widespread protests, riots and looting throughout the city in the wake of the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd.

More than half of the weekend’s victims were shot on Sunday as the city reeled from violent protests Saturday night that led to hundreds of arrests and the implementation of a curfew.

Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said Monday that of the total fatal shootings over the weekend, 17 homicides occurred on Sunday alone. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed 15 for Sunday, with another three at unknown locations.

The weekend’s toll surpasses the tally from the same weekend in 2019, when 52 people were wounded — 8 fatally — in citywide gun violence.

Judicial Watch Opposes Democratic Party’s Move to Defend Newsom’s Plan to Mail Millions of Ballots Contrary to State Law

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it has opposed a motion by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and California Democratic Party’s to help defend Gov. Gavin Newsom’s executive order mandating that millions of unrequested and unneeded mail-in ballots be sent to all California registered voters for the November 3, 2020 election.Judicial Watch sued to stop the Newsom Mandate, on behalf of former congressman Darrell Issa (a candidate for California’s 50thCongressional District in the November election) and four voters from across the political spectrum. (Darrell Issa, et al, v. Gavin Newsom et al. (No. 2:20-cv-01044-MCE-CKD)).

Judicial Watch argues that Newsom’s executive order is an “unlawful attempt to supersede and replace California election law, including the Voter’s Choice Act (VCA), by imposing an entirely new” electoral system. It argues that the executive order violates the Elections Clause, the Electors Clause, and the Due Process Clause of the Constitution and was done beyond the governor’s authority under state law.

In their motion, the Democratic Party groups sought to join the lawsuit as “intervenors,” who would assist Gov. Newsom in defending his executive orders. Judicial Watch points out in response that they made a number of assertions about a prospective shortage of mail-in ballots “that are simply not factual.”

The Democrats contend that, if Judicial Watch prevails in its lawsuit against Newsom’s order, voters would be forced to choose between their right to vote and their health, that resources would need to be diverted to “address the lack of mail ballots,” and that the result “will be far less voter turnout among Democratic Party supporters.”

Judicial Watch responds that “these fine-sounding words and phrases . . . are, in fact, empty, as may be simply demonstrated. Prior to COVID-19 and Governor Newsom’s order, California was a ‘no-excuse absentee ballot’ state. Even prior to the governor’s order, California voters could request an absentee, mail-in ballot, without having to provide any particular reason for doing so. Following any such request a ballot had to be mailed within five days. These procedures applied to every voter” in California.

Judicial Watch continues: “No voters will have to ‘to choose between risking their health to vote in

The Army Will Consider Renaming Bases that Honor Confederate Leaders

The Army secretary is open to changing the names of 10 Army bases that were named for Confederate leaders, Military.com has confirmed.

Secretary Ryan McCarthy will consider the changes if he has bipartisan cooperation from leaders at the local and congressional level an Army official told Military.com. Politico first reported the news about renaming the bases Monday.

McCarthy's decision reverses a longstanding Army stance that the base names would not change, even as debate raged about whether they along with statutes and other tributes to Confederate leaders across the country are divisive. Leaders told reporters as recently as February that the base names would not change.

Those debates have reignited though following the May 25 death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minnesota. Floyd's death has prompted massive demonstrations across the nation as Americans call for an end to racial inequity and police brutality.

The Marine Corps on Friday made official a policy that has been in the works for several months that bans Confederate items on base. The policy gives commanders the authority to check for Confederate items in workspaces, bathrooms, and even front porches on government-run military housing. T-shirts, bumper stickers and mugs with the Confederate flag are now forbidden on base.

"The Confederate battle flag has all too often been co-opted by violent extremists and racist groups whose divisive beliefs have no place in our Corps," Marine officials said on Friday. "This presents a threat to our core values, unit cohesion, security, and good order and discipline. This must be addressed."

The New York Times' editorial board in May two days before Floyd's death called for Army leaders to rename the 10 bases that honor Confederate leaders.

They include Fort Benning, in Georgia, named for Brig. Gen. Henry Benning – a Georgia lawyer, politician, judge and supporter of slavery. Fort Bragg in North Carolina is named for Gen. Braxton Bragg, who Time noted was admonished even by his strongest supporters for "his quick temper, general irritability, and tendency to wound innocent men with barbs thrown during his frequent fits of anger."

Even before Floyd's killing and the protests that followed, The New York Times opined that the decision to rename the Army bases was long overdue.

"Bases named for men who sought to destroy the Union in the name of racial injustice are an insult to the ideals servicemen and women are sworn to uphold – and an embarrassing artifact of the time when the military itself embraced anti-American values," the editorial board wrote.
