Some of those guys were legit dirty. Sorry. It was based on a situation not unsimilar to old Soviet Union. Perks and goodies catch them up. They are paid pretty well, but not that great in comparison to corporate world. Tax payers money, after all. And it is often a thankless job. Those that took the bait and made poor decisions for whatever reason legitimately were tarnishing the good name of the USN. We had enough problems without watching O's do that shit and get away with it. It created many little cabals of our own. But I watched a lot of good people riffed because they were numbers, basically. Or not really players in the good old boy club and getting fat evals. That is why we have a lack of experience in our aviation maintenance departments. Another reason for the rash of crashes.
