This is a long shot, but I'll be taking it anyway.

Anons who were Vietnam War vets or knew anyone that served during that time, perhaps you could help me with some information.

I'm looking for my grandfather who I believe might've served back in the 70s, that or he was a government official. Anyway here's what I know so far.

>Name is Vincent

>Early to mid 20s during 1965-1970

>Blonde hair/brown (I had a patch of blonde hair on my brown haired head for a period of time as a child, I'm now thinking it came from him)

>Would fly back and forth from America and Vietnam

>Stayed at what I believe is either an embassy or mil base

>Left in 1970 one year before my mother was born

>Commies threatened to kill anyone who possessed anything belonging to American troops(?)

>Grandma had to burn all the "evidence" including photos of them and him

>Area where he stayed would give out warnings when the commies were advancing from what I can gather while questioning my mom

Anyone have a clue about what he could've been?

That's all the information I can gather right now, I'm not looking to dox him nor his family. I'm just trying to see if he could be on here, or if someone who knows him is on here. Im searching for you grandpappa.

In due time, Anon. I'm only gathering information as of right now because I'm not 100% sure on his occupation or role in what was happening back then. Hence why I'm asking if anons know anything about that period in time that could help me narrow some things down.

I don't have the full story, Anon, nor all the details since I'm hearing this from my mom, who learned about it from my grandma.

From what I've been told the commies had arrived at their town thus necessitating the need for Americans to evacuate. My grandma had to burn anything that showed she had any association with Americans in order to not be gulagged.

From the stories I've heard of him, he truly loved my grandma. He was the one to break the news of their relationship to my family, unfortunately shit never works out in times of war.

Anon sees what you're suggesting, I put one year later when it should've been months later. I don't have the exact date of his departure, but he was definitely my mom's father.
