Huge salaries and pensions with little education

No consequences for their actions, abuses and even crimes

Protect and cover for bad cops as SOP

Different set of rules for them (and their families)

See people who pay for them as the enemy

Fail to prosecute obvious criminals (if scary or powerful) whilst harassing and preying on peaceful people (not scary or powerful) over pretended offences

Shall I continue?

>unions need to protect their own from corruption or KICK THEM OUT

No, you go to JAIL, not get kicked out. This is the fucking problem, officer.

Investigations need to be external, not internal. Public employees should not have unions.

>police are the ones who scrape dead bodies off of streets

Firefighters, doctors, nurses, EMTs, Funeral directors…. All see horrible shit regularly. They all have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

>a rotten apple REALLY DOES spoil the whole bunch

It certainly can. It happened over a long period of time; like any dysfunctional relationship.
