When you regulate medical insurance with Federal laws, then you effectively have socialised healthcare. But you do not have socialism.
Instead, the insurance providers have to compete prooviding oversight.
The customers can shop around and switch providing oversight.
The healthcare providers keep the insurers honest, calling out bad apples when they see them
And the insurers keep the healthcare providers honest calling out bad apples when they see them.
This should keep the costs at all levels, reasonable, because it is hard for crooks to game the system.
This type of free market socialised healthcare is superior to anything that socialism can provide.
When you compare it to Canada, remember that they have 10 different healthcare systems, the largest with 14 million people. There is no central control, so they have not suffered from the worst problems of socialism, even though there are plenty of crooks in their healthcare system. The reason they have 3 political parties in Canada is that the crooks are not united. Instead there are 3 competing groups of them.
European nations are similar because there is no Europe wide socialised healthcare. There is still not enough competition or enough oversight, but things there are not yet as bad as they would be under a Globalist socialist state.
