UCLA Prof. Placed on Leave After Refusing to Postpone Exams for Black Students

UCLA Professor Gordon Klein has been placed on leave after rejecting a request to postpone a final exam for black students in response to the death of George Floyd. Over 20,000 people have signed a petition that calls on UCLA officials to fire Klein. When Klein was asked to postpone black students’ exams, he replied by quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: “Remember that MLK famously said that people should not be evaluated based on the ‘color of their skin. Do you think that your request would run afoul of MLK’s admonition?”

According to a report by NBC News, UCLA accounting lecturer Gordon Klein has been placed on leave in response to a student campaign that has called for his termination.

Klein, who has been teaching at UCLA for 39 years, earned the ire of some members of the UCLA community when he pushed back against a request to postpone the final examinations in his accounting courses for Black students.

Students and faculty at institutions including UC San Diego have argued that universities and colleges should offer “universal passing” grades to Black students in response to the death of George Floyd.

“Thanks for your suggestion in your email below that I give black students special treatment, given the tragedy in Minnesota,” Klein wrote in an email to students. “Do you know the names of the classmates that are black? How can I identify them since we’ve been having online classes only? Are there any students that may be of mixed parentage, such as half black-half Asian? What do you suggest I do with respect to them? A full concession or just half?

“Remember that MLK famously said that people should not be evaluated based on the ‘color of their skin,'” Klein added. “Do you think that your request would run afoul of MLK’s admonition?”

Students published a petition last week in which they called on UCLA to fire Klein over the email. The petition argues that Klein should be terminated because his email violated UCLA’s “holistic” and “inclusive” values.

“We ask for your support now in holding Professor Klein to the same ethical standards he claims to be essential to a holistic and inclusive educational experience, which is what he owes to his students as an educational leader,” the petition reads. “We, the students, refuse to support Gordon Klein any further and demand to see his employment terminated as soon as possible.”

According to the Free Beacon, Klein is under police protection following threats of violence.

Breitbart News reported last week that students at the University of Washington demanded that the university adopt a gentle grading policy for Black students in response to the recent social unrest.

Trump invites Putin to G7, sparking opposition

US President Donald Trump has announced that he plans to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the next G7 summit to be held later this year. The move has sparked opposition from other G7 members, however, such as Canada and the United Kingdom.

The G7, or Group of Seven, is an international organisation representing the nations with the “most advanced” economies as judged by the International Monetary Fund. It currently consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The group was known as the G8 until 2014, when former member Russia was expelled due to objections to the country’s occupation of Crimea, which had previously been part of Ukraine. Russia has been excluded from the group ever since.

The United States will be hosting the group’s annual summit this year. Trump has said that the G7 represents “an outdated group of countries” that does not “properly represent what’s going on in the world,” and needs to be expanded to include others. He has been pushing for Russia’s readmission for years. He has also suggested that Australia, India, and South Korea should be included.

President Trump made the announcement about his invitation to Russia at the end of May and informed President Putin of his decision in a phone call the following day, according to a report by BBC News.

The leaders of Canada and the United Kingdom have already made their opposition to Trump’s plan known, however, saying that they do not want to see Russia readmitted.

“Russia was excluded from the G7 after it invaded Crimea a number of years ago, and its continued disrespect and flaunting of international rules and norms is why it remains outside of the G7, and it will continue to remain out,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a statement.

A spokesman for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also stated that he will veto any attempt to bring Russia back into the group, saying that they have “yet to see evidence of changed behaviour which would justify its readmittance.”

This year’s G7 summit was originally scheduled to be held this month, but President Trump announced that he is postponing it until September given the ongoing Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. German Chancellor Angela Merkel had already said that she would not be attending the summit due to the emergency, as previously reported by Voice of Europe. Some believe that the real reason for her move was due to a growing rift between her administration and President Trump’s, however.

President Putin could still attend the summit even if his country is not readmitted to the group.

DARPA hypersonic missile prototype destroyed after ‘inadvertently’ falling from B-52 bomber during flight test

A hypersonic missile prototype under development at the Pentagon’s shadowy research arm reportedly detached from a heavy bomber in mid-flight during a test, destroying the high-tech and secretive munition.

The ill-fated test saw the missile – a Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC), a joint project of the Air Force and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) – “inadvertently” separate from the B-52 that was carrying it and crash to the ground below, according to a report by Aviation Week.

Though DARPA declined to provide further details, stating that all information on the flight demonstration is classified, the mishap is thought to have occurred near Edwards Air Force Base in California, where the military conducts tests on a number of new systems, including Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighter jet.

It’s unclear where the missile landed, but the report suggested it may have crashed over a “designated testing range” near Edwards AFB, where its pieces were collected after impact. A range at nearby China Lake was proposed as another possible location.

DARPA’s HAWC program, which seeks to develop a scramjet-powered missile capable of hypersonic speeds, has fallen behind schedule by several months, missing its debut test flight originally planned for last year. Using oxygen from the atmosphere for propulsion rather than from onboard tanks, scramjets allow for smaller, lighter and faster munitions, and operate more efficiently at speeds in excess of Mach 5. With the recent testing accident, however, there’s apparently more work to be done on the cutting-edge weapon.

Delingpole: Museum Curator Tweets Advice on How to Destroy Bronze Statues

A wealthy, Oxford-educated, American-born museum curator has been advising Black Lives Matter/Antifa protestors on Twitter how to do permanent damage to bronze statues using corrosive chemicals.

Madeline Odent, curator of Royston Museum in Hertfordshire in England’s picturesque, rural east, has been using her art conservation knowledge to advise the mob how best to harm what she calls ‘memorials of genocidal racists’.

She has told her 5,000 followers:

‘from an art conservation perspective, it’s honestly fine to throw paint on memorials of genocidal racists! paint is pretty easy to clean off. What would be an absolute SHAME is if people were to throw certain common HOUSEHOLD ITEMS that can cause IRREVERSIBLE BRONZE DISEASE.’

In subsequent tweets, the privately educated curator, married to a millionaire French banker goes into detail about how to create this ‘irreversible bronze disease.’

Yes, it can be removed, but ‘the chemical needed is super carcinogenic, so, it rarely is. Instead, conservators usually ‘pause’ the disease by removing either moisture or oxygen using specialised storage.’

When challenged on her behaviour, Odent was snarky and defiant.

She tweeted disingenuously:

‘no I’m pretty sure I’m telling people how to avoid damaging precious and extremely valuable relics of history, without which we would immediately forget about the entirety of the british empire.’

and

‘like I could be wrong, what do I know, I’m just a dumb chick with a twitter handle’

Elmo and His Dad Discuss Why ‘Racism Is a Huge Problem in Our Country’ in CNN Town Hall

Sesame Street teamed with CNN for a town hall on the Black Lives Matter protests around the county, with Elmo’s dad explaining that “across the country, people of color, especially in the black community, are being treated unfairly because of how they look.”

Shouts of “Black Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter!” kicked off the CNN-Sesame Street Town Hall for Kids and Families segment, which focused on “standing up to racism.” Elmo, on a split screen with his dad, Louie, asked, “Why are these people together?” followed by a serious of other questions. Louie ultimately told his son that protesters are upset because “racism is a huge problem in our country.”

“They’re gathering together to protest,” Louie said, explaining the meaning. “A protest is when people come together to show they are upset and disagree about something. They want to make others aware of the problem. Through protesting, people are able to share their feelings and work together to make things better.

“They make signs, like this,” he said, holding up a sign reading, “Love, Justice, Peace.” Louie also revealed himself as a protester, telling Elmo of his plans to bring the sign to a protest at the community center “later.”

“They look upset,” Elmo said. “Are the protesters sad?”

“They are sad and upset and they have every right to be, Elmo. People are upset because racism is a huge problem in our country,” Louie continued, explaining the concept of racism to Elmo.

“Racism is when people treat other people unfairly because of the way they look or the color of their skin,” he said, spurring confusion with Elmo.

“The color of their skin? Elmo doesn’t understand, daddy. Elmo has friends with different types of skin, oh, and fur, too,” Elmo said.

“I know Elmo, but not all streets are like Sesame Street,” Louie added. “On Sesame Street we all love and respect one another. Across the country, people of color, especially in the black community, are being treated unfairly because of how they look, their culture, race and who they are,” he continued, adding, “What we are seeing is people saying enough is enough. They want to end racism.”

Elmo concluded that he “wants to end racism too” and asked how he could support his friends. Louie told him he could start by learning, talking about what is happening, and taking action.

Notably, Elmo and his father did not discuss the violent riots — dominated by assault, looting, vandalism, and arson — that have permeated many of the protests over the weeks.

Fox News’s Tucker Carlson unloaded on the segment and “decades of relentless propaganda” that has been relentlessly presented to so many.

“A children’s show,” Carlson said of the town hall segment. “Got that, Bobby? America is a very bad place, and it’s your fault. So no matter what happens, no matter what they do to you when you grow up, you have no right to complain. That’s the message and it starts very young.”

Northern Ireland health chief kept best-case Covid-19 scenario under wraps & went public with one 12 times worse instead – report

When Northern Ireland's government was warning that the country could lose to Covid-19 almost as many lives as to its violent 'Troubles,' they failed to mention the toll could also be 12 times lower, a new BBC report has revealed.

NI Health Minister Robin Swann had warned in early April that the region may face 3,000 deaths from the first wave of Covid-19. The figure was the “reasonable” worst-case scenario based on computer modeling.

First Minister Arlene Foster called this a “sobering statistic” and one that was “about 500 people short of the tally of lives lost during the Troubles,” referring to the three decades of violent confrontation between Irish separatists and British loyalists in Northern Ireland.

But the same modeling said the best-case scenario put the potential death toll at just 250, BBC Spotlight has revealed, citing a leaked document. The optimistic figure was never provided to the public.

Swann decided to keep the best-case variant under wraps because he feared that, otherwise, the public would have “a false sense of security,” according to the BBC report. The scenario was called “unrealistic” in the document.

The actual number of deaths from the infection as tallied by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) stands at 757, as counted provisionally by May 29.

In mid-March, Swann said the “nightmare scenario” with no social distancing could result in 14,000 to 15,000 deaths in Northern Ireland. The 14,000 figure was the “unrealistic” worst-case scenario that came up from the same computer modeling, which the minister used for his April announcement, according to Spotlight. However, he kept that variant from the public too.

When the alarming predictions for Northern Ireland were made public, the team of experts behind it said the figures should not be used as a forecast and have been prepared for planning purposes only.

Minneapolis Withdrawing from Police Union Negotiations

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minneapolis Police Department will withdraw from police union contract negotiations, Chief Medaria Arradondo said Wednesday as he announced the first steps in what he said would be transformational reforms to the agency in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

Arradondo said a thorough review of the contract is planned. He said the contract needs to be restructured to provide more transparency and flexibility for true reform. The review would look at matters such as critical incident protocols, use of force, and disciplinary protocols, including grievances and arbitration.

He said it’s debilitating for a chief when there are grounds to terminate an officer and a third-party mechanism works to keep that person on the street.

“This work must be transformational, but I must do it right,” Arradondo said of changes to the department.

He also promised new research and strategies to spot and intervene with problem officers.

“We will have a police department that our communities view as legitimate, trusting and working with their best interests at heart,” he said, adding that the department has to address issues of racism head-on.

Arradondo sidestepped a question about whether he thought union head Bob Kroll, often seen as an obstacle to reform, should step down. He also didn’t directly answer a question about whether citizens should worry about a slowdown in police response time as a pushback against attempts to transform the department. Some City Council members have said in the past that their wards saw such slowdowns when they complained about police action.

Floyd died on May 25 after Officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck, ignoring the handcuffed black man’s “I can’t breathe” cries and staying there even after Floyd stopped moving. Chauvin — a white officer who had 17 complaints against him and was only disciplined once — is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter. Three other officers at the scene are charged with aiding and abetting the second-degree murder and manslaughter counts.

Arradondo fired the four officers even before they were criminally charged, while activists took their calls for change to the streets in Minneapolis and beyond. A majority of Minneapolis City Council members called for dismantling the department, but they provided no clear plan on how that would happen.

Mayor Jacob Frey said he would not support abolishing the department, but he would favor a cultural shift in how it functions. He did not get into specifics, but told “Good Morning America” on Monday that the city has difficulty terminating and disciplining officers because of the police union.

98,000 Migrant-Crisis Asylum Seeker Arrivals Given Permanent Swedish Residency

A total of 98,867 asylum seekers have been given permanent residency in Sweden since the height of the migrant crisis, out of 163,456 who applied for asylum that year.

During the height of the European migrant crisis in 2015, Sweden took in over 163,000 asylum seekers, the highest per capita in Europe and one of the highest total numbers, despite the country’s comparatively small population. Some 80,000 entered the country in two months before the government enacted border controls in November of that year.

According to a report from Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Radio, 60 per cent of the asylum seekers who arrived that year were granted permanent residency in Sweden, while the rest were granted temporary residency.

Mikael Ribbenvik, Director General of the Migration Board, spoke to the broadcaster, saying: “We had desk lawyers standing in ports and at stations in yellow vests. We arranged 64,000 accommodation places during these months. We got everyone in the system, which was important.”

“Since many people were granted residence permits during those years, this results in increases in applications for family reunification. And then, about five years later, there will also be an increase in the number of citizenship cases,” he added.

Family unification has been a major source of new migrants in the years since 2015, according to several annual migration reports released by the Swedish Migration board.

Between 2010 and 2020, Sweden granted 1.2 million residency permits, with around a quarter being granted for family reunification or 365,000 in total. Asylum permits over the same period amounted to 295,000, while work permits totalled 300,000.

The influx of new people to Sweden has been so dramatic in recent years — and heavily impacting a national population that was comparatively small to start with — over one in five of all people in the country is now born abroad, with 1.9 million residing in the country. 73 per cent of Sweden’s population growth is down to mass migration, and the country has the second-highest rate of growth in the EU.

A rise in family reunification permits has been met with criticism from some, including Anders Knape, the head of SKL, an organisation that represents Swedish municipalities and county councils.

“Much of the family migration will end up, at least initially, in places that already have a strained situation,” Knape said.

Many municipalities across the country have begun to face real financial difficulties after accepting many migrants, including Bengtsfors, which claimed the added costs could force the municipal government to declare bankruptcy without national government aid.

UK Establishment Caves to BLM as MPs, Police Chief, Take a Knee; Church Prepares Racism Apology

Prominent figures including the leadership of Britain’s left-wing opposition party, and the chief of Kent Police have succumbed to pressure from the far-left Black Lives Matter to ‘take a knee’ against so-called institutional racism in Britain.

Labour’s new leader, Sir Keir Starmer, and his deputy Angela Raynor had posed for a photograph of them kneeling in a room in the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday, with Sir Keir saying: “We kneel with all those opposing anti-Black racism. #BlackLivesMatter.”

Black Lives Matter UK Raises $1 Million in Days, Vows to Spend Cash on Abolition of Police

Black Lives Matter UK (BLMUK) — the British arm of the radical leftist movement that originated in the United States — has raised over $1 million in the past week in a crowdfunding campaign, vowing to spend the cash on the “abolition of police”.

The GoFundMe campaign, that was launched one week ago following the death of U.S. citizen George Floyd, had raised £800,000 ($1,022,000), with over 29,000 donations.

In the crowdfunding pitch, BLMUK said that they are “guided by a commitment to dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white-supremacy, patriarchy, and the state structures that disproportionately harm black people in Britain and around the world”.

The black radical group said that they intend to use the donations to put in place “police monitoring” as well as developing “strategies for the abolition of police”.

The call to abolish the police mirrors a similar movement in the United States, where leftist politicians such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar have joined the campaign to ‘#DefundThePolice’.

Founded in 2016, BLMUK describes themselves as a “coalition of black activists and organisers across the UK”. The leftist group said their main purpose is to “challenge the rise of the authoritarian right-wing across the world, from Brazil to Britain”.

“Our commitment to all black lives means that we lift up the experiences of the most marginalised in our communities, including but not limited to working class queer, trans, undocumented, disabled, Muslim, sex workers, women/non-binary, HIV+ people,” they said.

Judge Sullivan’s Shadow Prosecutor John Gleeson Files His Brief, Calls DOJ Dismissal of General Flynn a “Gross Abuse of Prosecutorial Power”

Judge Emmet Sullivan’s “shadow prosecutor” John Gleeson filed his brief on Wednesday.

Recall, the Justice Department dropped its case against General Mike Flynn last month after bombshell documents were released that proved Flynn was framed by Comey’s FBI.

But the Clinton-appointed Judge Emmet Sullivan made a dirty, political move to delay justice for Flynn.

Sullivan solicited amicus briefs and appointed retired Clinton appointee judge John Gleeson to argue against the government’s motion to dismiss the charge against Flynn!

Gleeson called the DOJ’s dismissal of General Flynn “pretextual” and “a gross abuse of prosecutorial power.”

FOMC Formalizes $80Bn/Month QE, No Negative-Rates Signaled, Slashes GDP Forecast

Since The Fed's last statement, on April 29th, one "asset class" has done particularly well as bonds, bullion, and the greenback have slipped lower. Spot the odd one out…

As we detailed earlier, the Fed is likely to focus on forward guidance on rates and asset purchases: it is a given that rates are on hold until normal economic service has been resumed, and then some, and also that the FOMC will continue to expand its special lending facilities even further despite the fact that the worst of the economic downturn is already behind us. However, the markets are only really going to be focused on four things:

Will the Fed open the door even a crack to negative rates? The Fed does not seem to be in a hurry to tweak the IOER rate, even though that would help reduce the occurrence of negative implied Fed Funds rates and thus quell some of the speculation about negative US rates in our view. However, despite market chatter we believe that European- and Japanese-style negative rates are a no-go for the Fed.

Will we see Yield Curve Control (YCC)? If so, which parts of the US Treasury curve will, Japanese- and Aussie-style, cease to function as a real market? Would it just be the short end of the curve? That leaves the door open for curve steepening of the kind seen in recent sessions, which carries the risk of real pain for borrowers. Moreover, with the massive expansion of US Federal debt, YCC out to 2 years would mean issuance at the short end and constantly having to roll it over. In other words, raising the Fed Funds rate again would not be possible until public debt was under more control – which realistically means never. Or might YCC be longer, say out to 7 years? This would give greater room to spread the looming trillions that will flow, and perhaps enough time for some optimists to presume an economic turn-around within that period is possible. Yet could we even see that financial totem of all totems, the US 10-year, under YCC? If so the global debt benchmark is not looked at, but sat on like a bench. Japan is already doing it.

Can the Fed manage to do either of the above without the US Dollar falling out of bed? The structural bull argument for USD is still there, but current momentum is such that hinting at negative rates and/or pegging US yields could easily push it down. The Fed aren’t responsible for the USD, but they certainly know that is true. The question is whether they are either desperate enough about the outlook not to care, or are happy about a currency weakness they can pretend is nothing to do with them. Hello FX Wars! Join the queue behind the trade war (as China cancels some shipments of US goods already en route) and the Cold War (as the US senate de facto opens the door to banning all Chinese telcos from the US market). That said, there is also an emerging argument one we have put forward since 2017 that in a Cold War it is a strong USD and not a weak one that is the greater US weapon. There is still unlikely to be a line of communication between China hawks in DC and the Eccles Building where the FOMC sit, but it’s still worth remembering what the geopolitical backdrop is.

Can the Fed find a way to do even more than it already is without encouraging what many see even by the standards of the mind-blowingly stupid examples around the word in recent decades as an epic, lunatic, dangerous stock-market bubble? Indeed, can they do so without stocks tumbling down on top of the retail money arriving late to the party? “Excessive exuberance”: anyone recall how many years and bubbly Fed Chairs ago that was?

All eyes will be on the dotplots today to see if any Fed heads are forecasting negative rates (and if so prepare for chaos to break out).

And how Powell will explain The Fed's tapered bond-buying as repo-liquidity needs are resurging…

A cold war is brewing in Jerusalem between Turkey and an Israel-Saudi alliance

Back in 2017, two Israeli advisors to the Jerusalem Municipality, David Koren and Ben Avrahami, shared their concerns about Turkey’s increasingly visible role in the Holy City. These two figures oversee all of the municipality’s interactions with Muslims and Christians in Jerusalem. They are fully aware of the fine details of the incongruous interests, discrepancies and tensions among all segments of the local population.

Their article, “Eastern Jerusalem Arabs between Erdogan and Israel” was a wake-up call for Israeli decision makers regarding what they called “countervailing toxic trends in Jerusalem” and a warning about the symbolism of the Turkish flags flying across East Jerusalem and, especially, on what Israelis call the “Temple Mount”, the Noble Sanctuary of Al-Aqsa. They argued that the Turkish presence is intended to weaken Israel’s hold on the city. Hence, Koren and Avrahami recommended Israel to shield itself by not only limiting the Turkish presence but also by thwarting the “Turkish incursion to Jerusalem”. Since then, Israel has reportedly spared no effort in developing plans to obstruct the Turkish presence in Al-Aqsa and East Jerusalem.

Interestingly, media reports have revealed discussions between Israel and Saudi Arabia about limiting the role of Ankara in Palestinian affairs and replacing it with Riyadh. The two now apparently friendly states have recently held secret talks to discuss having Saudi representatives in the management of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, which is currently under the custodianship of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

There is no doubt that US President Donald Trump’s foreign policy decisions have started yet another phase in the Middle East’s most chronic conflict in Israel-Palestine. The recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and relocating the US Embassy to the city was definitely a game changer. It brought an ancient rivalry to the forefront of the Muslim world: the custodianship of the third holiest site in Islam after Makkah and Madinah, Al-Aqsa Mosque Sanctuary.

“By Design” and a “Test Run for November” – Georgia Chaos Is Blueprint for November Election

Georgia is shaping up to be an unlikely battleground state in the November presidential election, and if Trump loses Georgia, his chances of overall victory are slim.

Chaos and dysfunction ruled yesterday, as Georgians went to the polls amid a pandemic that has already claimed over 2,000 lives in the state. Within minutes, many of the state’s new voting machines had crashed, resulting in massive waits for voters – up to four and a half hours in some localities. June temperatures topped 90 degrees, with many forced to stand in line until after 11 p.m. to cast their ballot. Mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms, issued a plea to voters to persevere through the difficulties. “If you are in line, PLEASE do not allow your vote to be suppressed. PLEASE stay in line. They should offer you a provisional ballot if the machines are not working,” she wrote, but paper ballots also ran out in some places.

Postal voting had its problems, too. Even Stacey Abrams, tipped by many to be Joe Biden’s running mate in November, could not use her absentee ballot as the envelope arrived sealed shut. Another problem encountered was the lack of trained staff at stations. The average age of a poll worker in Georgia is 70, and concerns over working in an enclosed public space in the middle of a pandemic that particularly affects the elderly doubtless kept many away.

Or at least that was the situation in many of the poorer neighborhoods of the state, where the population is often predominantly black. In the affluent white suburbs of Atlanta, reports suggest the day went ahead without major incidents. Georgians were voting for district, state and national representatives, although the latter is more of a formality for both Democrats and Republicans. Kristen Clarke, president of the group the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, described the situation as catastrophic. “If we view the primary election as a dry run for November, then Georgia gets an F today,” she said.

But others saw the situation differently: not as an error, but as a well-planned triumph of election malfeasance. In response to the scenes of long lines and frustration, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stated that “Republicans don’t want vote by mail because it chips away at their ability to do exactly this: target and disenfranchise black voters and people of color. These scenes are specifically happening in black communities, not white ones,” she said, “This is by design and it’s their test run for November.” Pramila Jayapal, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus agreed, “This is no accident. Black and brown people have been kept out of our elections – 100% on purpose and by design,” she wrote. Amid the fiasco, the state’s (Republican) Attorney General has opened up an investigation, while calls for the United Nations to monitor the elections in November are growing louder.

Air Force Launches Review into Racial Disparities in Punishments, Opportunities

Weeks after an advocacy organization found that black airmen in junior enlisted ranks are twice as likely to receive discipline as those from other demographics, the Air Force Inspector General has launched an independent review into the service's history of disparity in military punishment and developmental opportunities given to African American service members, officials announced Tuesday.

In a release, the service said the review, ordered at the direction of Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett; Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein; and Gen. Jay Raymond, chief of space operations for the U.S. Space Force, will "assess and capture existing racial disparities; assess Air Force-specific causal factors, like culture and policies; assimilate the analysis and conclusions of previous racial disparity studies by external organizations; and make concrete recommendations resulting in impactful and lasting change."

"We are listening, and we are taking action," the leaders said in a letter accompanying the announcement.

The IG will reach out to airmen, including those temporarily assigned to the Space Force, through anonymous surveys and one-on-one interview or group discussion requests. The surveys will be made available by mid-June on the Air Force's website.

In a town hall last week, Goldfein and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright called for change and improvement in the service, including a review of the military justice system.

The IG review formalizes that request, according to the release.

"We want to make sure our Air and Space Professionals are able to share their experiences and concerns, and we want to empower them to be a part of the solution," said Lt. Gen. Sami Said, the Air Force Inspector General.

"Their voices will be heard and captured for the record. We have a tremendous opportunity here, and we will not waste it," Said added.

An advisory board will supplement the review process. Said has formed a senior leader advisory group composed of "10 African American general officers, 10 African American chiefs and four African American senior executive service Airmen," the service said.

The IG's office will also reach out to a number of airmen from all the major commands to join its review team.

Following the announcement, Wright praised the move. "Action," he posted on Twitter and linked to the release.

Wright was the first member of senior military leadership to speak out publicly following the May 25 death of George Floyd, a black man, at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis.

Bill Gates Negotiated $100 Billion Contact Tracing Deal With Democratic Congressman Sponsor of Bill Six Months BEFORE Coronavirus Pandemic

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation helped negotiate who would score a $100 million government-backed contact tracing contract in August 2019 — six months before the ‘pandemic’ arrived in the United States and four months before it swept through China. (Listen Above)

The shocking revelations were unveiled on the Thomas Paine Podcast and the Moore Paine Show on Patreon by the two investigators who blew the whistle on the massive Clinton Foundation tax fraud during a Congressional hearing in 2018. John Moynihan and Larry Doyle testified in Congress, detailing the fraud and schemes utilized by the Clinton’s to avoid paying up to $2.5 BILLION in federal taxes.

The investigative duo, in their first interview since that bombshell Congressional testimony, revealed to Paine that representatives from the Gates Foundation met with U.S. Congressman Bobby L. Rush at a sit down in Rwanda, East Africa in mid August 2019 to hash out who would score the windfall from a government contact tracing program. And just last month — nine months after the meetings with the Gates Foundation in Rwanda — Rush, a Democrat from Illinois, introduced the $100 BILLION H.R. 6666, the COVID-19 Testing, Reaching and Contacting Everyone (TRACE) Act.

Rush’s bill would establish a program run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for national coronavirus testing and contact tracing.

Paine has since learned Congressman Rush traveled to Rwanda with his spouse from August 12th to 19th, 2019 to take part in talks and a week-long event underwritten by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

But how can you negotiate the byproducts of monitoring a pandemic six to seven months before the outbreak of the virus even happens?

This story is developing.

ISRAEL HAS DECLARED OPEN WAR ON AMERICA…AND NO ONE NOTICED

Breaking China: A rupture looms between Israel and the United States

“In many cases on the surface, the companies that are working in these areas are not primarily focused on military applications, but the capabilities themselves have the potential to be leveraged for strategic impact,” Serchuk said. “Both Israelis and Americans agree that Israeli capabilities should never be leveraged or weaponized against the United States, but figuring out exactly what that means is very tricky.”

GOP Finds a New Location for August Convention

The Washington Post is reporting that the Republican National Convention, originally scheduled to be held in Charlotte, NC will be moved to the coastal Florida city of Jacksonville. Problems with the Democratic governor and mayor allowing a full-blown convention forced the party to move the venue to a more GOP-friendly area.

Due to contractual obligations to the city of Charlotte, it’s likely that some low profile events will still be held there. But the people and their money along with the cameras will probably be in Jacksonville.

But the move is not set in stone as there have been warnings from some city officials that there won’t be enough hotel rooms.

NewsJax4:

RNC aides are reportedly scrambling to figure out how to handle hotel capacity. Officials were in Jacksonville Monday for that purpose and to look at the city and its surrounding areas.

News4Jax checked local hotels and there are no reservations available at the Omni and Hyatt Regency in downtown Jacksonville during the week of the RNC in August. Prices are more than double at some hotels on the South Bank between August 24th and 27th.

It will be tight but the RNC will find that people are willing to drive a long way from an out of town motel to participate in the convention. Enough rooms will be found and as long as they’re within 100 miles, the party is on.

Meanwhile, some local residents in Jacksonville don’t want the convention in their city.

The Ledger:

In an interview Tuesday with the Times-Union, Jacksonville NAACP Branch President Isaiah Rumlin warned that the RNC coming to Jacksonville would discredit the progress Curry’s administration made just that day.

“Trump doesn’t need to come to Jacksonville. We don’t need him here,” Rumlin said. “Although the statues are gone, that’s just symbolic. Racism is still going on.”

As noted by the Times-Union, the convention will fall on the 60th anniversary of Ax Handle Saturday — where more than 200 Ku Klux Klan and White Citizens Council members attacked black people participating in lunch counter sit-in demonstrations.

And 250 years ago, the Spanish were killing Native Americans down there. What’s the point? I’m sure you don’t have to try very hard to find something significant to the cause that happened on this day or tomorrow, or the day after that 50, 100 150 years ago. What’s that got to do with Republicans pouring $100 million into your city?
