Why? Because in case you haven't noticed, people take a rumor or a 'theory' with no evidence and send others on elaborate detours to divert away from the facts.

That's how disinfo works - they take a slice of truth or a possibility and then create a fictional narrative that's entertaining but not factual.

And it's pretty obvious there's an active cover up operation going on in real time. What they need is time to bury the leads before people find them.

Not saying that it wasn't going on. It might have been. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it was.

Following the evidence is just a different approach. And there's plenty of evidence out there that very few are even noticing.
