In the Guardian article, is discussed how actors might use the game comms for money-laundering(to fund blackhat operations perhaps, like funding maybe ISIS in the Syrian disaster). This is where Flynn may be involved. He may have had knowledge of such treasonous activities, beyond government approval in the Middle East.
