Driver charged in Capitol Hill protest shooting

The man accused of driving into the Capitol Hill protest and opening fire on a protester was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault.
Investigators said Nikolas Fernandez turned onto a street where there were several people protesting Sunday.
Prosecutors said Daniel Gregory, 27, reached in through the front driver’s side window, grabbed at the steering wheel and punched Fernandez in an effort to stop the vehicle from plowing into the crowd.

According to prosecutors, Fernandez said he feared for his safety, grabbed a gun and shot at Gregory.
Investigators said Gregory was hit in the shoulder and was released Tuesday from Harborview Medical Center.
Fernandez remains in the King County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail
