A disabled veteran who was shot in the head by a left-wing protestor in Colorado is fighting for his life. Danny Pruitt, 49, is currently on life support at UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Pruitt was shot in an altercation with George Floyd protestors in Amalosa, Colorado last Thursday. Pruitt was confronted by a group of George Floyd protestors who were blocking a road in the city’s downtown. While proceeding down the road, a protestors retrieved a gun and shot into the passenger car window of Pruitt’s vehicle. Pruitt drove off, and his black truck was located by police about a mile down the road, with the driver being debilitated from a gunshot wound.

Police are saying there is no indication that Pruitt plowed through the crowd of protestors. Alamosa police Captain Joey Spangler confirmed that “I can say we have no evidence to show that he was driving into or through the protestors.”

The Amalosa Police Department arrested a suspect in the shooting that night, 27-year old James Marshall. In a remarkable twist, the accused has been identified as a defense attorney in the community. Marshall is being charged with several serious felonies for his role in the alleged shooting, including second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, and menacing.

The shooting was caught on video, and surveillance camera footage shows it to be a heinous, calculated act of violence.

As the Chinese coronavirus distracts the world, the Chinese Communist Party has ratcheted up its crackdown on religious freedom, and sources say President Xi Jinping is working on rewriting the Bible itself to “create a new version of Christianity shorn of its transcendent visions and values.”

Xi Lian, a professor at Duke University Divinity School, told The Wall Street Journal‘s Matthew Taylor King that Beijing doesn’t just want to repress religion — the Chinese Communist Party wants to transform it.

Lian said Beijing wants to “drain Christianity of its spirit.” China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency reported last year that Politburo Standing Committee member Wang Yang had presided over a meeting of so-called scholars and “religious people from the grassroots level” to discuss “making accurate and authoritative interpretations of classical doctrines to keep pace with the times.”

The Chinese Communist Party sees Christianity, which is likely China’s largest-growing religion, as a unique threat, Lian insisted. He mentioned three key reasons: Christianity’s international connection to believers inside and outside of China; Christianity’s congregational strength — “You have this ability to mobilize a stable, reliable community;” and the faith’s “transcendent vision, transcendent values,” which form a “moral and ideological rivalry” to communism.

Lian argued that Chinese people largely see the party’s Marxist-Leninist foundation as a spent force.

Xi has long insisted that religion should be “Chinese in orientation.” China is notorious for cracking down on Uyghur Muslims in the northern province of Xinjiang, but it also heavily restricts religious freedom for a wide range of beliefs, including Tibetan Buddhists.

As President Donald Trump continues to warn about potential voter fraud generated by mail-in ballots, Kansas Republicans have now stripped Democrat Governor Laura Kelly from using the COVID-19 pandemic to either move election dates or to require mail in ballots.

According to Kansas House of Representatives Majority Leader Dan Hawkins, Republicans fought throughout the special session of congress created in response to COVID-19 to prevent the governor from obtaining additional power grabs.

On Facebook, Hawkins wrote that “Republicans fought hard this special session” to prevent Kelly “from shutting down Kansas businesses,” to “provide oversight of federal relief funds,” and allow local government “greater control.”

Republicans also prohibited the “government from mandating contact tracing” and provided “liability protections for employers and healthcare providers.”
