ASSANGE EXTRADITION: Politicians Call on UK to Release Assange

A group of members of the European Parliaments, and former members of Congress and local legislatures have written to Britain’s secretary of state for justice urging that Julian Assange be released from Belmarsh prison on compassionate grounds.

The text of the letter signed by former British MP Chris Williamson, former U.S. Mike Gravel and former Congressman Ron Paul among other political leaders:

June 1, 2020

FAO The Rt Hon Robert Buckland QC MP

Lord Chancellor & Secretary of State for Justice

CC The Hon Bob Neill MP

UK Commons Justice Committee Chair

Dear Sir,

REQUEST FOR COMPASSIONATE RELEASE OF JULIAN ASSANGE

As current and former elected representatives in democracies committed to human rights, the presumption of innocence and the rule of law, we wish to support the urgent appeal sent to you by Australian MPs Andrew Wilkie and George Christensen, who wrote:

“We ask that you urgently reconsider providing Mr Assange with release from Belmarsh Prison to monitored home detention, as he fits all of the grounds noted for such early release by leading organisations as the World Health Organisation, the United Nations and the UK Prison Officers Association. These organisations have been unanimous in calling for the release of all non-violent COVID-19 prisoners, and we ask that you give compassionate consideration to the following:

Mr Assange is a non-violent remand prisoner with no history of harm to the community. He is not convicted and is thus entitled to the presumption of innocence.

Doctors of Mr Assange warn he is at high risk from dying if he contracts COVID-19 as he has a pre-existing chronic lung condition.

We are advised that COVID-19 is rapidly spreading throughout UK prisons, and that there are infections [and at least one death] at Belmarsh Prison.

We understand that the prison is short staffed and normal activity regimes are suspended.

Mr Assange is in poor mental health due to spending so much time in solitary confinement over recent years, and prison COVID-19 lockdown measures are further undermining his mental health.

We ask that you give further consideration to the very reasonable request by Mr Assange’s lawyers that this non-violent Australian prisoner be released into home detention with a 24-hour ankle monitor.”

With the director of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention warning of a second wave of coronavirus during influenza season, we stress that even those vulnerable prisoners, such as Julian Assange, who survive the current crisis remain at risk.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Arthur Chesterfield-Evans, former Member of the Legislative Council of NSW, Australia

Clare Daly, Member of the European Parliament, Republic of Ireland

Andrew Feinstein, former Member of the African National Congress, South Africa

Mike Gravel, former US Senator, United States

Heike Hänsel, Member of the German Bundestag, Germany

Eva Joly, former Member of the European Parliament, France

Ogmundur Jonasson, former Member of the Icelandic Parliament, Iceland

Ron Paul, former US Congressman, United States

Yanis Varoufakis, Member of the Greek Parliament, Greece

Mick Wallace, Member of the European Parliament, Republic of Ireland

Chris Williamson, former Member of Parliament, United Kingdom

Signatories from the European Parliament:

Stelios Kouloglou– Group of the European United Left – Nordic Green Left – Greece

‘You’ll have a great time’: IDF detain RT’s Redfish stringer while covering rally against Jordan Valley annexation in West Bank

Israeli military detained a stringer working for RT’s Redfish project as he was filming a Palestinian protest against the annexation of the Jordan Valley and released him only after taking his camera’s memory card.

It was the last shooting day for a small Redfish crew working on a documentary about Israel’s plans to annex some parts of the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley. Producer Ahmad Al-Bazz and a cameramen stringer, Ameen Nayfeh, set out to the small village of Zubaidat to cover a small protest staged by locals opposing the annexation.

At first, it seemed that it was going to be a regular filming day. “When we arrived the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] were surrounding the village. We managed to enter and nobody stopped us,” Al-Bazz told RT. The soldiers took the journalists’ IDs and press cards but quickly returned the documents.

The Internet Censorship Bubble Is About To Burst

Over the past year, I’ve written extensively about the initially creeping — and then sweeping — censorship occurring online. Initially, the censorship vortex was on vaccines. Social media platforms and Google all started suppressing and then outright banning content raising questions about vaccine safety.

I warned everyone that this would eventually spread to other topics that might threaten a corporate bottom line. The only surprise was how quickly that happened. Within months, Google started shadow banning and hiding holistic health sites, including this one, in its search results.

In August 2019, I made the decision to leave Facebook due to its clear censoring of valid and truthful information. One year from the time social media platforms began censoring vaccine information, they all started banning views on COVID-19 treatments that differ from that of the World Health Organization.

The Dangerous Suppression of Freedom of Speech

YouTube’s CEO even went on the record stating they will block any video that goes against WHO guidance on the COVID-19 pandemic. Shockingly, this includes videos and articles by medical doctors, emergency care specialists and researchers who share their clinical experiences, recommendations and scientific findings.

Just one of countless examples was a May 17, 2020, Full Measure News report1 in which Sharyl Attkisson interviewed doctors reporting good results with hydroxychloroquine. The segment also looked at the potential financial motives driving the mass media’s disdain for the drug, while promoting remdesivir and as-of-yet-unavailable vaccines.

https://youtu.be/zB-_SV-y11Y

Just the News, which reported the takedown of Full Measure’s video, writes:2

“Dr. Jane Orient, the executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons as well as a clinical lecturer at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, urged viewers to ‘look at the money’ when it comes to the two drugs.

‘There’s no big profits made in hydroxychloroquine,’ said Orient. ‘It’s very cheap, easy to manufacture, been around for 70 years. It’s generic.

Remdesivir is a new drug that could be very expensive and very lucrative if it’s ever approved. So I think we really do have to consider there’s some financial interest involved here’ …

‘These are organized efforts,’ [Attkisson] said, arguing that politically biased parties are behind efforts to remove or censor contrarian information on social media …

She noted recent efforts by Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, to pressure social media companies to censor and downgrade ‘harmful’ coronavirus-related material and push users instead toward information from the World Health Organization. ‘I don’t know why we’re allowing this,’ Attkisson said. ‘Nobody appointed Adam Schiff to police our content on social media.'”

Joe Rogan Ditches YouTube

May 20, 2020, Infowars host Alex Jones revealed Joe Rogan has signed an exclusivity contract with Spotify for his Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. You can find the video here. Rogan had reportedly asked Jones to make the announcement.

According to Rogan, the move is his way to strike back against YouTube censorship. Granted, the $100 million paycheck from Spotify probably didn’t make it a particularly difficult decision. It also turned out to be a stroke of genius for Spotify, the stock of which jumped 8.4%, or more than $5 billion dollars, after Rogan announced the move on Twitter.3

Jones was one of the first controversial figures to be banned from YouTube, which appears to be the reason he gave Jones the scoop. The straw that broke the camel’s back, Rogan says, was YouTube’s decision to block differing opinions on COVID-19, as he wanted to interview a variety of doctors and experts about it.

But even before the pandemic, Rogan had bristled against YouTube’s decision to demonetize or remove certain interviews. Rogan told Jones he sees YouTube’s behavior as “un-American” and “anti-human.” Jones wonders if Rogan’s move is symbolic of “peak internet.” Possibly, it’s a sign that the censorship bubble is about to burst.

Devolution to Revolution: An Already Demoralized U.S. is Now Being Destabilized

The two destabilizing events recently occurring back-to-back, the response to the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, and the George Floyd rioting, illustrate well how America is now institutionally incapable of making decisions in her own best interests. That is, the overreaction to the disease and under-reaction to the rioting reflect a country long demoralized.

Moreover, if that’s not troubling enough, know that this is a state of being that usually leads to tyranny.

We’d had pandemics before — ones causing more death, especially when adjusted for population — but we’d never before embraced lockdowns, a cure worse than the disease.

But at least the disease was a relative unknown; riots are not. People the world over know how to deal with riots, and this isn’t by letting them metastasize so thugs can run wild, hurt the innocent and destroy the nation. Yet our “leaders” fiddled while the country burned, motivated by moral confusion and weakness, and some, most certainly, by ulterior motives.

You may recognize “demoralization” and “destabilization” as the first two steps in the process of communist subversion, explained well by late Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB agent who fled to Canada in 1970. Bezmenov stated in the mid-1980s already that the process of demoralization — an undermining of a target nation’s morals that makes it ripe for revolutionary takeover — was “basically completed already” in the United States. But a money line is what he said about demoralized people:

“[D]espite…the abundance of information, no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interests of defending themselves, their families, their community and their country. It’s a great brainwashing process….”

Sound familiar, maybe a bit like people who can’t figure out how to handle rioters and why it’s necessary? How about people who think eliminating ICE, borders and the police are positive measures (I refer to the actually sincere individuals)?

Bezmenov also said that demoralized people “are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern; you cannot change their mind.” Sound familiar, perhaps like people who react to truthful statements by reflexively shouting “racist!” or “white supremacy!”?

One more familiar sentiment: Bezmenov also stated, “A person who is demoralized is unable to assess true information — the facts tell nothing to him.” Just think here about how many today will react to air-tight, fact-based, logical arguments, not with assent or even open-minded pondering, but with angry rejection.

Note here that numbness to Truth is nothing new. British satirist Jonathan Swift observed hundreds of years ago already (I’m paraphrasing) that you “cannot reason a man out of a position he has not reasoned himself into.” The difference is that the process of demoralization in question yields large numbers of people egregiously detached from reality in a way that serves a specific agenda, and who are virtually impossible to change.
