Gattaca is a movie from not so long ago (‘97) when Hollywood was still prepared to champion the human spirit against technocracy. It’s all about genetic selection (the norm) vs “natural” conception. The non genetically selected individual wins out against the odds.

That is a false dichotomy. One can return to the foundational principles of the Republic AND pursue the advancement of scientific and industrial development. The determinant of ultimate outcomes is always the underlying philosophy and, particularly, the moral values of a society and its leadership. We’re in our current predicament because of the sustained attack on society’s philosophical underpinnings and prevailing morality.

You should feel bad. Not everyone who volunteers to help kids is a predator. Those organizations did great things to raise up kids generally, and especially those from disadvantaged and broken homes. Sadly, the fate of the scouting organization says everything about our debased society and culture.
