Karl Marx (1818–1883) is best known not as a philosopher but as a revolutionary, whose works inspired the foundation of many communist regimes in the twentieth century. It is hard to think of many who have had as much influence in the creation of the modern world. Trained as a philosopher, Marx turned away from philosophy in his mid-twenties, towards economics and politics. However, in addition to his overtly philosophical early work, his later writings have many points of contact with contemporary philosophical debates, especially in the philosophy of history and the social sciences, and in moral and political philosophy. Historical materialism — Marx’s theory of history — is centered around the idea that forms of society rise and fall as they further and then impede the development of human productive power. Marx sees the historical process as proceeding through a necessary series of modes of production, characterized by class struggle, culminating in communism. Marx’s economic analysis of capitalism is based on his version of the labour theory of value, and includes the analysis of capitalist profit as the extraction of surplus value from the exploited proletariat. The analysis of history and economics come together in Marx’s prediction of the inevitable economic breakdown of capitalism, to be replaced by communism. However Marx refused to speculate in detail about the nature of communism, arguing that it would arise through historical processes, and was not the realisation of a pre-determined moral ideal.

Some sense about Pike
I have some comments concerning the letter from "Padre Lee" on the matter of Anti-Masonry (HWWN #9811). I would have to guess that the writer is either a Northern Jurisdiction Scottish Rite Mason, or a "Blue-Lodge" Mason who has elected not to seek further light in Scottish Rite Masonry, perfectly acceptable choices for any Master Mason.
The reason I say this is because of his statements concerning Albert Pike. Bro. Padre Lee says that "no one except the critics of Freemasonry take Pike's books seriously." This is a patently untrue statement! It is also potentially dangerous when made to an anti-mason. Because it so easy to refute, this statement could cloud the balance of a Mason's defense of the Craft.
Most of Brother Pike's writings are still considered valuable resources by the members of the Southern Jurisdiction of Scottish Rite Masonry. Our Southern Jurisdiction, which represents the Scottish Rite Masons in 34 American States and nearly all the foreign countries of the world, continues to practice the degrees written by Bro. Pike. Our good Brother Lee must also be unaware that as recently as 1993 Brother Pike was referred to as "The world's foremost scholar of Scottish Rite Masonry" in a new book "A GLOSSARY TO MORALS AND DOGMA" written by Dr. Rex R. Hutchens, 33 and published by the Supreme Council, 33 Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction at Washington D.C. Another recent book by the same author and publisher is titled "THE BIBLE IN ALBERT PIKE'S 'MORALS AND DOGMA'". Here Pike is called "the great man and Mason whose genius shaped the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for the world today."

How Germany got the Russian Revolution off the ground
The Russian Revolution has gone down in history as the victory of the workers and peasants over the czarist rulers. Few people realize the German kaiser was also involved: He gave aid to the Bolsheviks in 1917.
Zurich, April 9, 1917: 32 Russian emigrants are at the train station, waiting to depart. But they're not the only ones there. Shouts of "traitors, scoundrels, pigs" ring out at the travelers. Supporters of the group are also there, singing "The Internationale." The tracks are blocked for a short while, then train moves off.
The German chartered train was provided by Kaiser Wilhelm II with the aim of furthering the Russian Revolution. In one of the wagons sat none other than Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, better known as Lenin. With German help, Lenin left his exile in Switzerland and, a week later, reached his destination: Petrograd, which would later be renamed to Leningrad then changed back to today's Saint Petersburg.

Since the early 1920s, numerous pamphlets and articles, even a few books, have sought to
forge a link between "international bankers" and "Bolshevik revolutionaries." Rarely have
these attempts been supported by hard evidence, and never have such attempts been argued
within the framework of a scientific methodology. Indeed, some of the "evidence" used in these
efforts has been fraudulent, some has been irrelevant, much cannot be checked. Examination of
the topic by academic writers has been studiously avoided; probably because the hypothesis
offends the neat dichotomy of capitalists versus Communists (and everyone knows, of course,
that these are bitter enemies). Moreover, because a great deal that has been written borders on
