Not very "wtf?" Scopolamine is the name of this game. At the right dosage-level, it makes anyone into a completely mind-controlled zombie who will follow any command, including killing and eating another person. (That is, anyone who isn't seriously mentally or physically handicapped, such as to be outright incapable of following the command.) It's a big problem in Colombia, where the criminal element there often use it to take people for all they have.
