Expectations are resentments waiting to happen. God speed, Anon.
I can't figure out why this photo is re-circulating. Q pointed to it after it had already been making the rounds on Twatter yesterday, right?
Supporters of President Trump visit Bedminster 'Free Speech Zone'
BEDMINSTER TWP. - Dozens of supporters of President Donald Trump came to the "Free Speech Zone'' at the corner of Route 206 and Lamington Road Saturday morning to celebrate the President's first trip of the year to his private county club here.
A crowd estimated at 100 residents waved American flags and banners for the President, drawing honks and other reactions from passing motorists on a bright, sunny day.
"Today is the day we're celebrating Donald Trump and we're celebrating freedom, celebrating America and all that stands for, said Mark Leili of Peapack-Gladstone. "We're standing up to communism and standing up to Antifa.
Another local resident on hand for the event was Barbara Long of Bernardsville.
"I'm here today to show my support for our nominee, she said. "I think that we all need to get out and show support for law and order and for all the things he has accomplished.
One Bridgewater woman who declined to provide her name also offered praise for the President.
"He's the best President we've ever had,'' she said.
"We need not only four more years, we need eight.
He just loves the country and that's all I have to say about that.''
Rosalie Perinelli of Whitehouse Station echoed that sentiment.
"I'm here to support our President - love him, she said. "I love his policies and I like the fact that he is bringing back God Bless America and our liberties that have been stepped on.
Some of the demonstrators were reluctant to be quoted, saying they feared it could cost them their jobs. "I could actually get fired, one man said. "It's sad but it's true.
"It's unfortunate that in the United States of America, half the population has to close their mouths and not say their opinion, agreed a Bedminster woman who also declined to provide her name. "It's wrong. I think the silent majority is tired of being silent.
Among the supporters were several men wearing "Bikers For Trump'' clothing.
A majority of those attending the morning rally did not wear facial masks despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Held from 10 a.m. to noon, the event was the first of several demonstrations expected Saturday in the township, where Trump was scheduled to hold an outdoor fund-raiser for his re-election campaign at Trump National Golf Club.
On Saturday morning, several police officers were on the grounds of the free speech zone, located near the Clarence Dillon Public Library, but there were no indications of any trouble.
Trump arrived in town on Thursday night and reportedly had dinner with Gov. Phil Murphy at Trump National on Friday evening. He then flew to upstate New York on Saturday to address graduating cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., before returning to Bedminster.
Demonstrations have been common during Trump's visits here during his first term in office, but have generally been peaceful with a few minor exceptions. The free speech zone was established by the township to provide residents with an area to peacefully express their views.
