Reposting with a little more info on the taser discussion from my post LB.
Taser works in two modes - DS (drive stun) and PB (probe deployment). Drive stun is touching a person directly with the front of the unit. It causes pain but does not have as strong of an effect, and it does not result in penetration of the skin.
Probe Deployment is when two darts are fired. The darts have wires attached. One dart deploys straight out and the other on a 4 degree downward trajectory. The intent is to gain separation of the probes. With the type of voltage wave used by Taser (other manufacturers are different, and less effective), the wider the separation the more likely you will achieve NMI (neuro-muscular incapacitation).
Training for use of the taser includes (if the instructor is following existing guidance) the best aim for the probes is the middle torso, and preferably from the back, at a minimum distance of about 8 feet. Avoid the wires, as well.
Don't use the Taser on someone who is wet, covered with flammable liquid, pregnant women, people who are standing at heights or on things where a fall is very likely to result in serious harm, or anyone behind the wheel of a vehicle in operation.
If you're NOT trained on the Taser, its use can be much more likely to cause fatal injury.
See the link, as well as attached photos showing xrays of brain penetration of a taser dart, and eyeball.

God help you if you get hit with one in the balls.
